I of course disagree, after much research, with the DR that responded. My daughter's DR also used to feel as this DR does until she had a son with Autism. Then she did the research! Autism 1:150 is not acceptable. It is Impossible to have a genetic epidemic. Ever hear of an outbreak of Downs Syndrome? Why not? Can't happen...

I have heard bad things about vacines and am not really educated on the dangers of them. I have heard that children have died and become special needs. With the baby I am now carrying... I plan on ignorantly going through with it.. otherwise how can he travel abroad or go to certain schools... without vacines, one is really limtied legally in society? But maybe I should educate myself. My daughter had a vacine for an epidempic that was goign through our province and everyone was being vacinated like crazy... I think is was menenjitis or something. Anyway, my daughter had halucintaions and thought spiders were crawling all over her. She was panicing and spamsing, her muscles were concvulsing. She was only 2. Of course everyone denied it and said that drug doesn' even affect the central nervsous system.. the doctor insisted it was night tremors. (that apparently last off on on 5 hours, even after the child is awake and happens only once in her life the night after her vacine!)... no one wanted to admit that is what it was and tried to make me feel stupid for thinking that was the cause! Some health care. Maybe I should look into this before my new baby is born

I believe much, but not all, of the autism "epidemic" is just from changes in the diagnosis criterea & improved diagnosis. We know the rate of DIAGNOSIS has increased but we are not certain if the actual condition is much more common. My niece & nephew would likely have just been diagnosed as "retarded" or "brain damaged" 30 or 40 years ago.

The current stats (1 out of 166) include Asperger's & other high-functioning forms of autism which were never diagnosed as autistic until the late 80s. The now compose about 70% of those with autism. Classic, or "Kanner's" autism occurs at about a rate of 1 out of 500.

So an accurate comparison would the old incidence rate of 1 out of 1,000 to the new rate of 1 out of 500. That means the rates have doubled, but that is a far cry from the rate increasing 60 times over. (and far from an "epidemic")

oso loco - The manditory childhood vaccines ARE thimerisol (mercury) free!!! They stopped adding that preservative in 2001 & the old batches expired in early 2003. The flu vaccine is the only childhood vaccine that has thimerisol & even there, you can get the thimerisol free version if you ask.

Sorry to put you in your place but when I see ignorance like this, I can't keep quiet.

First of all there is NO epidemic. Do you even know what an epidemic is? It's a term used to describe an unexpected increase of a contagious disease (autism is not a disease).
The increase you have mis-labeled was actually expected and is due to broader diagnostic criteria that now includes far more people than it did prior to the mid 90's. If you actually look at the data across the board, you'll see a proportional decrease in diagnosis of other conditions like schizophrenia and mental retardation to the increase in autism. In other words, you still have the same number of jelly beans in the jar-only now more are of a particular color. There have been TONS of studies on this very subject. NONE of them have EVER found a link to thimerosal and autism. Thimerosal was removed from vaccines in 2001 and the diagnosis continue to increase. SO IT'S NOT VACCINES! Got it?

This is scaremongering-nothing more. People who do not vaccinate are hedging their bets on rational people (those of us who actually think for ourselves) getting vaccinated and preventing the truly horrible diseases from making a comeback (polio, malaria).

Please get your facts straight next time you want to frighten people.

Rabies is a hundred% mandatory everywhere. maximum vaccines are 2 or 3 3 hundred and sixty 5 days vaccines, so which you're able to have the capacity to get it finished each and every 3 years. Your vet might choose you to get one rabies vaccine now, and yet another one in a 300 and sixty 5 days, yet after which you're able to have the capacity to pass years in between. He could have a minimum of one domestic dog distemper vaccine (distemper, parainfluenze, parvo, and so on) mutually as he remains youthful. If he's punctiliously unvaccinated for this ailment, he's at an exceedingly great danger for contracting most of the nastiest issues he can get. those ailments can kill a domestic dog or an exceedingly previous canines. Heartworm comes from mostquitos, and mosquitos can chunk your puppy at any time, noticeably given how gentle the components has been presently. communicate on your vet and verify that it is happy with him. maximum vets comprehend in case you opt to do the 'bare minimum' vaccination style.

While I whole-heartedly agree that the mercury preservative should be removed from vaccines, there are many OTHER studies on autism that are pointing the blame at other sources. There are also vaccines available that do not use the mercury preservative.

The following is a link to the FDA chart which lists pediatric vaccines by manufacturer and shows the mercury content in each vaccine. The is not one vaccine that is not available without mercury. Just make sure to ask your child's pediatrician which brand of vaccine they are using before you vaccinate. http://www.fda.gov/cber/vaccine/thimerosal.htm#t1

The following is a link to the Autism Society of America. It is an article written by Martha Herbert M.D., Ph.D. entitled "Time to Get a Grip" and goes on to discuss the health impacts on environmental changes and pollution and it's link to autism. It's a VERY interesting read. http://www.autism-society.org/site/DocServer/eh_get_a_grip.pdf?docID=4821

You can look at the CDC web site and find out what they put in those vaccines. Also, if you look at symptoms of mercury poisoning and symptoms of autism, they're the same!

I like that site too BTW.

What gets me--this "better diagnosis" bull they come up with. Where are all the 34-year-old autistics, then? Autism wasn't that much of a problem when I was a child!
