I am looking to plan a concert or party sometimes next summer but this is the first time I have ever did anything like this before. I want to do an event for about 1000 people and I wanted to know if there was anyone that could help me put together a to-do list(permits, invitations or tickets, contracts, etc.). I would like to have someone with experience with this to answer but ALL answers are welcome. thanks.

I'm not going to lead you through the full process, but here are some pointers (the key is to focus on the event first then the people) - If you are holding a concert - I would recommend contacting a lawyer/ legal counsel to handle the permits, contracts, agents, and taxes - this way you have time to organize everything else. The venue will be holding it at generally has knowledge of local laws, but have them focus on ticketing and number of people you can invite, lighting, food and beverage, sound (the big thing here is to shop around - depending on the location, what services they provide, discounts available, etc). When sending out invites/ promoting the event, depending on the size again this is something you may need to outsource to an ad firm/ legal counsel. As there are rules on mailings, posters, flyers - it may help. Send these out a month - three mos in advance of event. Be sure to list what will be there - event, any restrictive clothes, cash bar, cash food, parking, map, phone number for details, etc. Read the contracts well and be sure to tip. Good luck!
