My sis had a C-section, and while we were in the hospital they told her that it was healing nicely. It's been three weeks and we are home. She accidentaly pulled off a piece of tape. She complains of Numbness minuete and pain the next. the area leaks a little clear liquid sometimes. is she okay? is it all part of the healing process? I would expect a little nerve damage after such an operation so the numbness makes sense. Some one please ease my worries :)

As long as it is clear. The things to look for are a bright yellow or green or real bloody discharge, swelling and redness in the area, hot to the touch. The numbness is normal because they do cut thru nerves down there. I am still nunb above my scar and it has been 5 years. Some woman don't get it, others have numbness for a short time and others are permanent like me. Just keep the area dry and padded. I smacked my csection right after I got home and man it hurt like the dickens, but it finally healed up nicely. I am sure she is fine.

I have had four C-sections and yes the incision does leak clear fluid and does so for some time (until all scabbing is completed). The numbness will last even longer, I can't remember how long but I can assure you it was at least a year. What you want to be wary of is anything that looks like it is filling with pus (which would be a sign of an infection). I also remember intense itching as the scar was healing too. You can always call her doctor's office and they can put your mind at ease. From my experience, everything she is experiencing is completely normal.

Numbness is a normal sign, I've had 2 c-sections and the numbness for me has never gone away. Also, if the area is leaking clear liquid is could just be a collection and it's probably fine. But if she wants to go see her dr just to be on the safe side then she should. My last section, which was almost 10 months ago, had started to bleed i was worried so i went and saw my doc. everything was fine but it's still better to be safe then sorry.
