The Better Homes and Gardens, Red/White Checkered hardback book is a real big help.

I buy even the old ones at Yard Sales to pass on to others who could use a good tool for the kitchen.

good luck & bless

I assume that this must mean that you think you can cook??? Sorry I could't pass up this. Maybe cooking is not one of your sisters qualities. But I'm sure there are things that she does really well.

My sister doesn't cook well either. She does okay to feed her family but is afraid to try anything with any difficultity to it. She will not fry anything and does not cook dried beans, she also will not make gravy from scratch with no drippings But she does well with making gravy from a roast or turkey drippings.

My sister loves to bake and that I do not do very well. So I do the cooking and she does the baking. It works out well for all of our family gatherings. Give your sister a chance. Trial and error is how she will learn. Tell her not to be afraid to try anything that she thinks she can make. Even if it fails, she will then know what not to do the next time.

Tell your sister to keep trying. Or to fall in love with someone who can cook. She could always get you to cook for her.

Good luck cooking

Buy her some cook-books, tape cooking shows from PBS, foodnetwork, travel channel or whatever. Pay for a cooking class at community college.

Remember, if she is 26, and can't cook, her interest is probably not into cooking. Love her without her cooking skills. If she's 26, she has eaten enough to keep her alive so far.

Though I'm not a great cook, I feel that cooking a decent meal might be a matter of following directions and applying a little effort. My girlfriend was the same way at 1st, but we cook simple meals together and the food is almost always good.

I agree about the Better Homes & Gardens Cook Book, it's a really good one. Good basic recipes, easy to follow; it's what I learned from and my daughter's use it too.
There are many really good step-by-step books out there now. If you don't want to spend too much money, you can check out the second-hand book stores, thrift shops and yard sales. Just check through the books and make certain that the recipes aren't to exotic or complicated. Some people prefer the ones with step-by-step illustrations. There is also a series of very good magazines from a company called "Taste of Home".
They have all kinds of recipes with very clear instructions, home tested, and the recipes are in recipe card format with pictures. This might be a good one to check out.
Good luck.

I remember when I was 19 and had to learn to cook. I had no clue besides nuking a can of chili. What really saved me was getting a new edition of my mother's old BH&G cookbook. It was amazing. Not just the recipes, but all the tips and tricks and advice and substitutions and such. If you give it to her as a gift, tell her to just try one thing, and if it doesn't work, not to give up. Trust me, the only way you can be a good cook is to be a bad cook at times and learn from mistakes. It's just a learning process. I still after all these years screw up at times.

is she interested in cooking food?
if she is not then she can make food but not that much delicious that can be made by the interest taking person .
moreover if she wants to learn cooking then join any cooking school, or buy cooking book from where she can cook the food, there are many books for initial cook are available in the market.
or if you can cook then guide her to cook the food.
if she wants to cook the food then there are many programmes or tv shows are broadcasted for this purpose just watch those shows.
