DO YOU believe in the Trinity? Most people in Christendom do. After all, it has been the central doctrine of the churches for centuries.

In view of this, you would think that there could be no question about it. But there is, and lately even some of its supporters have added fuel to the controversy.

Why should a subject like this be of any more than passing interest? Because Jesus himself said: "Eternal life is this: to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent." So our entire future hinges on our knowing the true nature of God, and that means getting to the root of the Trinity controversy. Therefore, why not examine it for yourself?—John 17:3, Catholic Jerusalem Bible (JB).

Various Trinitarian concepts exist. But generally the Trinity teaching is that in the Godhead there are three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost; yet, together they are but one God. The doctrine says that the three are coequal, almighty, and uncreated, having existed eternally in the Godhead.

Others, however, say that the Trinity doctrine is false, that Almighty God stands alone as a separate, eternal, and all-powerful being. They say that Jesus in his prehuman existence was, like the angels, a separate spirit person created by God, and for this reason he must have had a beginning. They teach that Jesus has never been Almighty God's equal in any sense; he has always been subject to God and still is. They also believe that the holy ghost is not a person but God's spirit, his active force.

Supporters of the Trinity say that it is founded not only on religious tradition but also on the Bible. Critics of the doctrine say that it is not a Bible teaching, one history source even declaring: "The origin of the [Trinity] is entirely pagan."—The Paganism in Our Christianity.

If the Trinity is true, it is degrading to Jesus to say that he was never equal to God as part of a Godhead. But if the Trinity is false, it is degrading to Almighty God to call anyone his equal, and even worse to call Mary the "Mother of God." If the Trinity is false, it dishonors God to say, as noted in the book Catholicism: "Unless [people] keep this Faith whole and undefiled, without doubt [they] shall perish everlastingly. And the Catholic Faith is this: we worship one God in Trinity."

I became convinced that the scriptures were divine in origin.
No human mind could have written the scriptures... this I am positively sure of. There was a superior entity that was at work here. This is the conclusion came to after I carefully studied the scriptures over many years. Since the Bible speaks strongly about God then it must be this entity that created it.

That's the entire reason why I believe that there is a God and that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I do believe that the scriptures are truthful and I don't think that the entity that created it was telling a lie.

The trinity is revealed in the bible. The bible is the word of God, written by witnesses. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are inseparable.
Jesus never owned property, he wasnt wealthy, rode on donkeys and washed peoples feet. He healed the sick and preached the word of God. His birth was foretold as was his resurrection from the dead. He was humble, yet more books have been written about him than about anyone else or thing in living history.

When John saw him coming to be baptised he knew Jesus was the Son of God and told the crowds there. On baptising Jesus the heavens spoke.
Jesus said 'I am the Way' to the Father.

I believed in order to understand. Then I studied the stories, now I understand why I believe. It is a journey we choose to make in our individual ways. The Alpha Course may help you with this. God Bless You.

I dont understand...
either there is a three headed god who is three equal parts of one schizophrenic ventriloquist since one part spoke from heaven while the other part was in the Jordan being baptized and Jesus lied when he said "the Father is greater than I am"

or Jesus is the son of and serves "the only true God" John 17:3; Acts 3:13

someone can not rationally believe both!

Mark 1:35

First it is an act of faith.

Second the attributes of deity are ascribed to God the Father,
God the Son and God the Holy Spirit which are Eternity, Omnipotence, Omniscience, Omnipresence, Creation, Holiness, and etc.

Third, a study of the Hebrew especially in the first chapter of Genesis, and then following through the Old and New Testaments contains enough scripture that, properly translated, leaves no doubt.

Just one example - In Genesis chapter one the Hebrew word is Eloyhim which, rightly interpreted, clarifies that there is plurality in the Godhead. Genesis 1:26 emphasizes this when
God says, "Let US make man in OUR image." He obviously wasn't talking to Himself, and He could not be talking to other created being such as angels because they were on an entirely different level. He had to be talking to someone of equal status. The Jewish scriptures have also verified this, but because the Jewish people for the most part have rejected Jesus as their Messiah they don't openly acknowledge that the word Eloyhim implies more than one person in the Godhead. There are some Jewish scholars who have come out and expressed their belief in this plurality in the Godhead, but it has not been made known outside of their circles.

Finally, I know God the Father personally as my heavenly Father, Jesus the Son personally as my Saviour and Lord, and the Holy Spirit personally as my guide who has anointed me with incredible power at various times in my life and ministry.

The doctrine of the Trinity is not biblical. It's post-biblical. It was developed from the council of Nicea and later ecumenical councils. The modern concept of the Trinity is not found explicitly in the Bible at all. We know from the Bible that there is a Father, a Son and a Holy Spirit. The later theological debates established these Three as One. I do not believe in this derived explanation of the Trinity, but I do believe that Jesus is the Son of God, because the Holy Spirit has witnessed to my heart that he is.

The concept of the Trinity is revealed implicitly in the Old Testament and revealed explicitly in the New Testament. The birth of Jesus while God remained in heaven showed them seperate yet the same. The Holy Spirit is also God but is sent to exist in every believer.
They are one divine substance yet are three distinct persons.

I don't like to use the word "Trinity" when referring to the Godhead. Why use a man made doctrine to explain one of the mysteries of God. Did you know that word is not in the Bible? He is the Son of God. He reveals Himself to me through the scriptures- especially the OT prophets, Psalms, Proverbs, and the Gospels.

Because the Bible identifies the Father as God, the Son as God and the Holy Spirit as God. In addition, Jesus Himself says that He is God Incarnate many times. Several of those times, people tried to KILL HIM for His 'blasphemy'.
This means that He CANNOT be merely a good man or a prophet of God. Any prophet who does NOT speak the truth is NOT a prophet of God. So either He is a lying blasphemer, a megalomaniac, or the true God of Creation. There IS no fourth choice.

Jesus said `If you have seen Me you have seen the Father`
also, ` The Father and I are one` note that Christ was always with the Father as He told us that He was SENT by the Father.
After the ressurrection He promised to send the Paraclete or comforter ( Holy Spirit) Who proceeds from the Father and the Son and so is God also.
`Baptize all nations in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit`
