Of course. Baked apples are lovely. Core an apple and pare a strip of skin from around the middle (to prevent splitting). Place upright in ungreased baking dish. Place 1 or 2 tablespoons granulated or brown sugar, 1 teaspoon margarine or butter, and 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon in center of apple. Pour water 1/4 inch deep into dish.

Bake uncovered in 375-degree oven until tender when pierced with fork, 30 to 40 minutes. Spoon "syrup" from dish over apple during baking or after.

Or, to microwave: do not pour water into dish. Microwave uncovered until tender, 1 apple 2 to 4 minutes, 2 apples 3 to 5 minutes, or 4 apples 6 to 8 minutes.

NOTES: If you do not have any of the ingredients, just leave it out and go with what you have, or just the apple alone. It will still be very good. You can also fill apples with granola, or grenadine (cherry) syrup, or honey.

Can use this method with other fruits like peaches too. This makes them taste sweet and delicious and is a great dessert. Can serve with creme fraiche or vanilla ice cream

INGREDIENTS
4 tart green apples
1/2 cup brown sugar
4 tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 cup apple juice

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Scoop out the core from top of the apple, leaving a well. Do not cut all the way through. Stuff each apple with 2 tablespoons brown sugar and 1 tablespoon butter. Place in a shallow baking dish with apple juice (enough to cover the pan about 1/2 in or so)and sprinkle with cinnamon.
Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes, until sugar begins to caramelize and apples are tender.

Red Delicious, Granny Smith, Cox's Orange. Streusel is a mixture of brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, walnuts and butter. It is mixed until it had beads and then sprinkled on top of the pie before it goes in the oven. Years ago, Better Homes and Garden had a hellacious Streusel Apple pie and you had to place foil on top and let it bake for about an hour and a half and then remove the foil so that the streusel can brown. My favorite apple to use is Granny Smith.

N323 says it best. yummy yummy. peaches are out of this world this way too!
for special but homey dessert i like to roll out pie dough (store bought is fine) cut circles big enough to wrap the apples in and bake this way.
I partially peel the apples. and basically do as N323 says with the inside.set in a baking dish, brush butter on them and sprinkle sugar and Cinnamon .serve with butter brickle ice cream

You can bake them, but I cook mine in the microwave. I peel it then slice it and use the "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" spray and then sprinkle it with cinnamon sugar and cook until apple is tender. Very quick and delicious.

Easy Healthy Baked Apple:

10 min 5 min prep
1 servings

1/8 cup walnuts or other nuts
1/2 banana

1. Wash, core and dice apple; dice can be very large, as they will reduce in size during baking.
2. Place in a microwave-safe dish and cover liberally with spice (s).
3. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and microwave on full power for 5 minutes.
4. While it cooks, chop up the nuts and banana.
5. Remove apple from microwave and carefully remove plastic.
6. Add in the walnuts, banana, cottage cheese and sour cream and stir all ingredients together.
7. Enjoy.
