Well, if you view anything overcoming the U.S. dominating the global economy as an "enemy," then yes. But they're not our enemy.
Even if radicals would want to make them our enemy, they have 1.3 BILLION people compared to the U.S. 300 million.

As a Chinese American, I'm still surprised every day by the narrow perspectives of some educated Americans. Look, why do we have to have an "enemy"? It seems that's all we look for, enemies. Is there any way we can have more "friends"?
I grew up in the US, so I don't know much about the Chinese government. But I can say that since I've visited there 3 times in the past 5 years, my perspective has changed a lot. I have relatives there and made many new friends as well.
There are KFCs and Starbucks on every corner (big cities only, China is very unevenly developed). Coke is sold at a premium to even beer. Chinese people love the NBA, Gucci, Hollywood, and hamburgers. English is the language to learn for the educated.
Really? Enemies? Why? I think China can become an enemy if we want it to ... but that will be a path chosen by our ignorance. I think China can also become a great friend. We need to learn more from each other, understand each other, and not have this narrow perspective of the world.
I encourage everyone to visit China -- it's a whole lotta fun and I guarantee you'll learn something new about China and yourself in the process.

Hells no. I look at my Keyboard as I type this, "Made in China" It says on the side. The truth is that USA and China cannot survive without each other. In a hostility situation the US would lose 90% of most products. In China, masses of people would be laid off, angry mobs of poor people would soon rebel. They wouldn't accept being laid off because of a stubborn or stupid US or Chinese government. Meanwhile, in the US there would be rebellions too. EVERYBODY would oppose the war, wanting their, 'conveniences.' So basically, a war would be impossible to fight for both nations, with their peoples going berserk.

Not really...
All of the old commie hardliners are dieing off. The new breed in China wants a free democratic society. They have the potential to become our greatest allies.
China today will be totally different in 20 years.
Look at what they did with the N.Korea nuclear tests. They actually backed up the US to impose sanctions on N.Korea.
Give them time they are still changing. I dont see them becoming an enemy honestly, they are making too much money from peaceful trade with the US. Their culture seems to want a free open society.
There are 1.3 billion people in China, I would guess that its in their governments best interest to keep them happy.

Possibly... China has amassed over one trillion dollars in the bank to be spent on numerous things they would like to develop.
They have an incredibe amount of people to pull from for military action. Though their military budget at this point is lower than the US, don't quote me on this but I think its about $60 billion to US's don't quote me again $460 billion. The US military strategy is different to China, in the aspect China is intrested in mass production of cheaper military components and US is interested in the most current expensive technology. Both countries are not a sponsor of terrorism either...
Though you would think we would be fighting over so many issues, our economies are tied heavily together. US consumes a lot of China exports, and China has a lot of money in Treasury Bonds. Therefore the US could default and China would instantly lose a lot of reserves.

No, our economies are way to intertwined. Our militaries are about equal, & would probably either become a stalemate, WW, or go nuclear.
War would cripple both the PRC & the U.S. economically and militarily. I don't want to live in a 3rd world country.
