The difference is that the gun used in a crime was intended to assist the individual to complete the crime. The 82 yo has a gun for protection of herself but probably has very little desire to resort to its use. The press prints what makes a good story and the crime can be glorified and made into interesting reading. The gun owned and probably licensed to the 82 yo is 100% legal and is accepted by most with approval. The press doesn't want to upset the majority by putting out a story that would sound more like their opinion rather than the facts.

Because people go to extremes, because one messed up person mass murdered people, people are like oh we need more gun control but that's not really the issue at hand because people can be responsible with guns and the example is the ex-beauty queen, she shot the tires out, not the person, she aimed to stop them not kill them. The problem is when mentally ill or sadistic people get guns they go out of control and gun control is not going to stop that, they will still find a way. The only way is if everyone who applied for a gun permit had a mental evaluation and dr note that they are sane without a doubt and no doctor in their right mind would write that knowing they could be held liable for declaring some insane nut sane enough for a gun. It's a no win situation and always will be, gun control will not make any difference in this case nor any case because any nut can steal a gun from a responsible person too.

The press is not impartial. The media, both press and broadcast, are owned and operated by leftist Jews. They deliver information and fiction in such a way that the kind of world they prefer is made to seem best. Some of the news fits their program and is eagerly and widely disseminated. Other news, however, draw attention to the disadvantages of the liberal program, and this material is given only cursory treatment, if any at all.
One of the fantasies that the media promote is the idea that gun control works, and that gun control is a good thing. The slightest consideration of gun control shows that it is a badly flawed idea which depends on criminals obeying gun control laws, even as they recklessly break every other law while preying on their innocent victims. Obviously, gun control isn't going to work. But the media will strive their utmost to convince the mental sluggards in society, whose votes count every bit as much as yours does, to the contrary.
The media do the same thing with regard to racial equality. The races are nowhere close to equal, but, as with the alleged goodness of gun control, the media rely on bandwidth to condition the human herd to believe their racial equality doctrine anyway.

I understand your question and you are right. So often if it wasn't the fact that there was a gun handy people would still be alive. 60 minutes has a story about an some rich heiress who lived in Arizona where it's legal to carry a concealed weapon. She had a gun and kept it with her at all times because in her words " I refuse to be a victim". She was already a victim of her own paranoia. I wouldn't want to be the person who got their head blown off because they made the mistake of asking that woman the time of day outside a 7-11. There are too many accidents. They outweigh any advantages to owning a gun. Just recently in the small city I live in a teenager found a handgun and brought it home. His mother knew he had it and allowed him to fool with it in the living room of their home while there were three small children in the room. The gun went off and he killed his mother. He was recently released from jail because the authorities decided not to press any charges calling it an accident. It was no accident that the woman allowed a gun into her home. She was just as much to blame as her son who is now scarred for life.

most guns are used in the commission of a crime, only the criminal has the right to defend himself with an ilegal gun in my country, honest citizens have to take courses, and maybe get to buy a long gun or shotgun as handguns are being fazed out here , so only cops and crimals will hae guns, joe blow citizen has no way but to call 911 and hope they are not put on hold. the problem is , WE DO NOT NEED GUN CONTROL,, WE NEED CRIMINAL CONTROL,. every law biding citizen should carry a gun to equilize this mess, these schol ground assassens wouldnt go so far if everyone one was equill like we are meant to be,crime would be less cause, you dont stick your hand in a rattlesnakes nest if hes home, why would you try to rob and armed household?

Because we live in a country where EVERYONE HAS RIGHTS and god forbid that their rights should be infringed apon. I am glad that 82 yr old was able to protect herself. She was responsible. What about that P.O.S. who shot up VT and it was later proven that he was able to acquire his gun legally(no black market, no back alley purchase) and look 32 dead people. There will never be any kind of real gun control because the NRA bribes oops I mean donates campain contributions to the politicians to make sure we relive the wild west days. My favorite arguement I heard was that if the other students had guns, they would have been able to protect themselves. Maybe or just maybe how many other shootings would have accured if EVERYONE there had guns.
I want to urinate on CHO'S grave and remove any markers that show his pathetic, cowardly, loser, lowlife ,worthless, meaningless, sorry existance.
I hope he rots in HELL
Ok now thats off my chest, maybe it was just too soon to talk about another gun story.

None of the above. The press doesn't report the news, they attract an audience. And the best way to do that is to scare people. Induce panic and people will stay glued to the idiot box. Don't be fooled and start thinking it's an agenda. The press has nothing to gain by the removal of what they can exploit.

Because of their audience. I would change channels if they had done what you seem to think they should have. The content of the story does determine where to go with it and the peripheral things of interest. With VT we wanted to know what the man had done illegally or not illegally. We were horrified with his actions. With the 82 year old, we were proud of her actions, she showed courage and pride. Her gun was legal and good thing she had it. Proves the point it is the person behind the gun, not the gun itself that determines how it is used.

america is obbsessed with bad news.
but, i am not going to lie, a man killing 32 students, and an 82 year old lady using a gun as self defense are no where near eachother in comparacense.
and why no heroic gun store owners?
are you kidding, they didnt do anything. almost anyone in america can have a gun. thats why our gun death rates are so high, there is nothing heroic in selling someone a gun.

I have said it before, and I will say it again, guns don't kill people, people kill people. It seems to me that all gun control does is makes it harder for people who should be able to have guns to get them. The people who shouldn't have guns are always going to be able to get them due to the black market. Wouldn't a better armed general populous deter these criminals. Would criminals be as bold if they knew that they were putting themselves in life and death situations every time they tried to break the law? I don't think that they would. I agree with certain gun control laws, but there needs to be a point at which they are recognized as being out of control.
