Saint Kabir says: "bura jo dekhan main chala, bura naa milya koi...jo man apna khojaya to mujhse bura naa koi" it means "I tried to look out for the bad but found none; when I searched my own heart I realised that I am the worst of all" how do you understand this? have you ever felt so? if yes when?

All Human beings' minds are filled with the poison called Pride and they look down upon others as sinners .On the other hand they always think that they are good ,right and pure.but God-fearing and Saintly people will always humble themselves like this.

Jesus said," For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled ,
and he who humbles himself will be exalted" ( Luke 14:11 )

In Bible, St .Paul also humbles himself like this.
" Ghrist Jesus came in the world to save the sinners - of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me ,the worst of sinners ......" ( 1 Timothy 1:15-16 )

Water gathers only in the lower places only . Like that, God's Grace also will reach the minds which just humble themselves.

Humility : a need and must for every one.

A good question .
Congratulation dear ...

bura jo dekhan main chala bura na milaya koi ,jo man apna khojaya to mujhse bura na koi

means it is the mind only which develops the the concept of bad . and since mind can not see others mind completely, hence we will find that no one is as bad as i am.

We can never aspire to become Kabir. They are not beings born from mother's womb. He was found on the river bed as a baby. Such god intoxicated births are rare in this world. He was pure and hence he could not visualise any bad outside. His humility never allow him to recognise his purity. Hence he condemn himself as the worst of all. In fact they are the gems of sainthood. We mortals, out of frustration may utter the word, 'i am the worst sinner' but not on the real sense.

Happiness is a state of mind.

A lady, divorced by a man because he is unhappy with her, gives happiness to some one else and he marries her. The object being the same, it gives different feelings to different people. So it is clear that it is only mind that determines every thing.

Similarly when every thing outside looks bad, the fact is, it is not so. It is what is inside. All of us can relate to this fact when one analyses his/her past carefully over a few incidents.

The worst person in the world is yourself because you have neglected yourself more than you have neglected anybody else. If you are looking for a bad person, look at yourself first. Correct what you think is bad before finding fault in others and trying to correct them. Remove the plank from your own eye, rather than concentrating on the speck that is in your brother's eye.

This saying like other sayings of Kabir show his great perception of human nature as most of us must have had such feelings at sometime or the other!

"evil is in the heart of the beholder"

Well anyway, I can never analyse something else the way I analise my own heart, so it's only natural to assume that I am the worst since I am the one who sees the evil.
