These two practices are universals throughout the human race. Even isolated tribes who have had no interaction with the "civilized" world have drinking alcohol and sex.

On another path, historically monogamy and marriage are rather recent traditions of the human race on the whole. Also, in the recorded anthropological studies of "primitive" tribes on sexual limits, more than a few contained writings on the ignorance of connection between sex and procreation. Therefore, sex was an entertainment without any guilt or responsibilities.

To other answers, please do some research on the subject before typing your church's, or, your on opinions as truths. The present United States are no worse or better than they were when founded if it comes to "booz and sex." During the 17th century African Women were commonly used as concubines. Everyone drank alcohol and there were more drinking establishments in Boston than Churches.

If you want the Truth.....Ask a Pagan.

Life is not always a pretty thing. All your observations are just part of the decline of our nation, brought about by our government becoming under the control of big business, and corporate greed. Eventually it will all collapse as more and more of working Americans can no longer pay their bills anymore. 1% of the population are facing foreclosure of their homes right now, and in a few more months many of these people will be homeless. At some point there will be enough of these enraged enough that they will resort to "desperate" actions of rage at being disenfarnchised from the American Dream by all the greedy profiteers. Some of these acts are already being reported in the news. Look at the desperate rage recently in Virginia, and elsewhere. When you have fathers and mothers slaughtering their children before killing themself, something is horribly dysfunctional in that society. Our leadership claims to be "Christian" but really is very anti-Christian in it's policy of promoting the greedy and trying to turn the middle class into a slave class. My suggestion is that you prepare yourself for the collapse that is soon to come. If you wish to discuss this further go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Jahosopher Peace be with you.

Modern American society has failed because it is leaderless. When our leaders are drunken womanizers or flirts, thieves, irreligious and just in general a bunch of jerks, then what can you expect from the rest of the country? When a whore in Hollywood Marilyn Monroe) gets more attention in the history books than Jesus Christ, then we have a serious problem. Young people are taught by adults how to act---they learn mostly by observing the behavior of their parents and relatives. We have not gone too far for a turn around, but it is going to take commitment on the part of the leadership of the nation in order for it to happen. Voters are going to have to demand responsible behavior from our elected and appointed officials, and parents are going to have to clean up their acts. If the youth of our nation is corrupt, then the future of this country will be corrupt. Jesus Christ IS the only answer. Unless people, both young and old, embrace sound biblical principles and make them a priority at home, school and at work, then we are not long for becoming a third-world nation. VTECH is proof enough of how badly the system is in need of being fixed.

Speak for yourself. I'm 34,single, I do not have multiple sex partners and my 'booze' (correct spelling) drinking is confined to one glass of wine on Saturday nights. My friends are numerous, and they are pretty much the same. No multiples, no heavy booze drinking. You're living in a world of stereotypes. Do you actually meet many people who fit your description above?

The church once stood as a beacon of light which guarded the innocent and protected those who were God fearing from falling into sin. So it had to be stopped or else we human beings wouldn't be able to be herded like cattle into the chute and over the bridge into the new world order, where we live to consume material things and make wealth for those who run the anti-christ system. The light is still shining. Seek the Lord while he is near.

I don't think I'm included in the "we" that you're speaking of. Why do some people watch celebrity train wrecks on TV and attribute the qualities of those people to the rest of the country?

I don't think it is the norm to have multiple sex partners. As far as alcohol goes in moderation is not sinful. Even Jesus turned water into wine.

Have you not noticed that has happened throughout human history? It has nothing at all to do with America and everything to do with being human.
