if you believe you are still alive,
then you should believe that God exists.
He made you
He loves you
He cares for you
you are here because of Him.
He exists, that's why we are here, too.

Faith is a gift that you must receive, take hold of. A gift that is not received doesn't benefit the recipient at all. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Today there are so many versions of the bible because the devil is producing most of them. But God promised to preserve his word. In 1611 he gave us the King James bible with his seal on it as the authorized version of his word for the english speaking people. Read it with prayer and ask the Holy Spirit to open the eyes of your understanding. See the truth revealed there.
edit:
God calls us to believe in him. Many are called and no matter where they are, or what is required in order for them to hear the word, they will hear. Few are chosen. The call must be answered by faith, listened to and believed.

If you lived in the middle of nowhere, and never saw a bible or some other holy book someone claimed held the truth to everything, or some missionary, you would not believe in the god of the bible. You certainly would have spirits in your life --And you would attribute things to them (or it) that you did not understand...as the Greeks did, the Norse, the Romans, and so on. (And by the way, their holy books are about as provable as is the bible... it is all faith based, as any minister will tell you " you have to have faith").
We in the western world, (Europe, US, etc.,used to believe in all sorts of things that god did, because we had no other explanation. Now that science is so far advanced, our understanding of heredity, DNA, evolution and the rest of it, god --- the god of Abraham--- is pretty much not a part or a very big part of most educated peoples' lives. And to those who are very religious, they base their ideas on the bible, and in their faith.... by their own admission.

Well, as a philosopher myself, I believe that the evidence around us is the evidence on existance in God. Examples are the green grass, the sky, the people, etc. If you look hard enough, you'll find evidence that God is there. It's just like going in to somebody's room. You see their things and you realize that they do exist. They do have a personality and everything.
And despite the fact that lots of bad crap happens in this world, the biggest peice of evidence that God exist is your free will not to believe in him. That's why there's so much bad **** out there in the world. It's because everybody has free will to do whatever the **** they want.

I think the answer is that you can't prove God exists by any natural law or logic, because as originator he is not subject to these things. I believe that by nature we are unable to reach and find God by ourselves, although we are capable of feeling some sort of need to know God, and possibly many are capable of self-deception, making themselves feel comfortable by imagining they know God.
So I think that real knowledge of God has to start with some sort of conviction given to people from God himself, individually and not necessarily in any way that you could point to as empirical proof, or any evidence that would satisfy anyone other than the believer. I have a feeling that belief based on proof such as documented miracles, although it would be easier for us, wouldn't be the same kind of belief as God is seeking from humans.
I don't think you can tell someone that they'll have true belief in God if they just "have faith", as I have heard people say; it's hopelessly circular reasoning and it does suggest that we can somehow discover the undiscovable, unaided.
I also think God tends to ignore human ultimatums like "I'll believe in you only if you do such-and-such". (Would you accept this sort of approach from your own child?) I think he tends to respond to a humble request for knowledge of him, accompanied by genuine seeking after truth (e.g. reading Bible etc., speaking with various believers).
And I notice that everything I'm writing is preceded by "I think"...so debate with me, someone...

Take a look at the stars in the sky, how everything is perfectly aligned so that the earth can sustain life. Look at the miracle of a new born child. Do you think all of this just happened or could there possibly be a higher being that put this great universe into place.

well, with me it was reading the New Testament and the words of Jesus, they convinced me that He was more than just another man, but you must decide for yourself. My advice is to pray to God sincerely to reveal Himself to you in your life. Don't worry about getting an immediate answer. God works in ways humans can't always understand, but He is still there.

Why not? We just do. God doesnt make all the things that are crazy in world happen, its people. We all have a choice to do what we do and its a copout to blame God for stuff that we do on our own. We choose how we want to live, not God. God is there for us when we choose to have Him in our lives.

1. Decide in a god out of the thousands available ( http://www.godchecker.com/ )
2. Ignore all evidence to the contrary and claim you know for a fact that god exists. Repeat forever.
---
Nobody can prove any gods, much less a specific god, exist; many people will tell you their god exists but no others, but will never be able to prove it, even if they think so. Some will threaten you with eternal pain or promise eternal joy to get you to believe in their god; these are all stories, created for people who were scared long before we understood the universe. Now we have no more reason for these superstitions.

Good Lord... How can we not? The amount of faith it takes in mankind to deny GOD baffles my little mind. I admire the Atheist faith.
May the Lord richly bless you.
