Don't hit him, ever. #1 considering that he'll end up petrified of your hand and 2 considering that he wont appreciate you. I would housebreak him in my view, it can be less complicated and a lot more traditional for puppies to realise. While you see him peeing in the apartment, say "No" however ensure your power is at a relaxed state and not so "ahhh!" Then after you say no (in a very assertive voice) immediately make him sit with the aid of the door if only for a 2d after which take him proper outside. When he does his trade, praise him and provides him a treat. Convey him right back in. Should you keep too lengthy external, he'll associate the outside as only a playground and no longer for potty use. Do that each day and do not let him out of your sight. If you happen to cannot watch him, put him in a crate and let him cry it out. However best put him in the crate when his bladder is empty and when he is tired the primary time. Should you do this every single day and stick with IT, he must be housebroke inside a week probably if he is as intelligent as you say :) which i'm certain he is. Preserve positive and not ever get mad. Simply exhibit him you are the boss! Hope this helped and good good fortune

Potty training doesn't cost much, except time and patience. A crate, a good cleaner to neutralize the accidents in the house, and treats. I had my dog trained in less than two weeks and she was 7 weeks old. I was very diligent in taking her out every 15 - 20 minutes. I stood out there with her, praising and rewarding every little tinkle. I got her on New Years Day a couple years back, so needless to say, I was out with an umbrella most of the time. When I could not watch her, and I mean like a hawk, she was in the crate (which is a great tool for housebreaking). She had ONE accident in the house. MY FAULT. I cleaned with Nature's Miracle and never said a word to her.
House training was soooo easy with her, but I put in alot of time in out in the rain!

It won't cost you anything. You just have to be diligent. Take your dog out to do his thing every hour and after every meal. When your dog does go outside give it praise. If it goes in the house when you aren't watching and you find it later you just clean it up and say nothing. You have only about 10 seconds after it happens or the dog won't understand why you are mad. If you do catch the dog all you have to do is tell it no in a stern voice and immediately take it outside. If you do these things your dog will learn where to do his business. You just need patients, it isn't always an overnight transformation.

It all depends what you have tried doing. I had just about given up on my pug but then we had the carpet cleaners clean the carpets and the couches and after that he would not potty inside. I realized that he was still smelling his own urine and poop even though I still couldn't. Plus he had gone potty in places I didn't know about and couldn't clean. You might want to try that. If you have a male puppy you can get him a diaper that goes around the waist that way when they pee they pee into the diaper and helps while you are still potty training.

Try to put him/her on a designated area grass, and make sure you stay out there long enough to figure out what you're trying to teach him. Use only one word to let him/she understand what that word means. If your dog goes back inside the house give her/him a little discipline and let your dog look at what he/she has done and say no in a voice. Go back outside wait long enough and he or she will finally go. After it is accomplished make sure you give him/her treats right after they accomplish getting potty trained. Or if he/she uses a pad, then use the same method.

do no longer hit him, ever. #one million because of the fact he will substitute into frightened of your hand and a pair of because of the fact he wont understand you. i could housebreak him in my view, it extremely is extra handy and so lots extra organic for canines to comprehend. once you notice him peeing interior the residing house, say "No" yet verify your capacity is at a relaxed state and not so "ahhh!" Then once you say no (in an exceedingly assertive voice) right this moment make him take a seat via the door if purely for a 2d and then take him astonishing outdoors. while he does his organization, compliment him and supply him a cope with. convey him astonishing back in. in case you reside too long outdoors, he will associate the exterior as purely a playground and not for potty use. try this daily and don't permit him out of your sight. in case you may't watch him, placed him in a crate and permit him cry it out. yet purely placed him interior the crate while his bladder is empty and while he's drained the 1st time. in case you are attempting this daily and shop on with IT, he could be housebroke interior of a week possibly if he's as clever as you say :) which i'm particular he's. shop advantageous and not in any respect get mad. merely coach him you are the boss! desire this helped and robust good fortune

Puppies don't know what you expect from them until you properly train them. While potty training your puppy try to keep your temper in check, use patience when dealing with your puppy - it is just a baby after all.

I've outlined 10 tips to use when house training your puppy:

Crate TrainingUse a crate while potty training your puppy. Your puppy should be in the crate while you are at work, sleeping, or anytime you are not able to watch it. Dogs are den animals so being in a crate is natural for them. Puppies will cry and want to be released at first, but be patient, it will get used to being in the crate and come to enjoy it. Make the crate a happy place, not a punishment. Teach your puppy a command when going in the crate, for example, kennel or go to your room, this will make it easier then trying to force or push the dog into the crate later. Also, dogs are pack animals so it's helpful if you keep the crate in the bedroom where the rest of the "pack" is sleeping. This is a tough one in the beginning because the puppy will cry and you will be tempted to let it out. Tough love, if the puppy is loose in the house then it will have opportunity to potty anywhere it pleases, keep the puppy crated at night until it can be trusted in the house. You may have to let the pup outside during the night and during your lunch break during the day. Be prepared to lose some sleep, like I said, it's like having a new baby.
Take the puppy to the same area of the yardEach time your puppy goes outside go with it. Take the puppy on a lead so you can be sure it goes to the same area of the yard each time. This way the puppy can smell itself and know what it's supposed to do. Only give your puppy about 10 minutes to potty, if it doesn't go, then bring it in and put it back in the crate, wait 15 - 30 minutes and take it back outside. Don't let the puppy play until it potties. Playing is a reward, don't reward bad behavior. Puppies are just little kids, they go outside, get excited, and forget why they went outside in the first place. It helps to give a command to potty, that way it learns a little faster what is expected, and later in life, if your running late, you can give the potty command and your dog will potty and be done with it.
Praise for going potty outsideWhen the puppy potties outside - give a treat, play with a favorite toy, say "good boy", whatever, just make sure that the puppy thinks, "Wow! Going potty outside is loads of fun, I'm going to do this again!"
Tether to you while insideWhen you are at home, and the puppy is not in the crate, consider using a long lead to tether the puppy to you. If the puppy is loose in the house it can gain the opportunity to sneak off and use the bathroom. The idea in house training is to avoid accidents, the tether works for that purpose.
Take the puppy outside immediatelyFollowing meals, drinking, playtime or excitement, when you first get home from work, and first thing in the morning. If the puppy gets excited it may have an accident, avoid the trouble by taking the puppy outside.
Take the puppy outside oftenTry to take the puppy outside every hour. If your home, why not take the puppy outside for frequent potty breaks, it'll learn that much quicker and you'll avoid accidents, it probably has to "go" anyway.
Keep a potty journalKeep track of how quickly food moves through the puppy. This will help you gage how quickly to get the little puppy out the door following meals.
Teach the puppy to let you know when it wants to go outsideTeach the puppy to bark, ring a bell, or scratch the door before going outside. This will help you know when he has to "go". The goal is for the puppy to get to a point where it will alert you as to when it's time for a potty break.
Paper trainingUsing potty pads or newspaper is up to you. Some small breed owners swear by them. I personally think they are confusing to the puppy if your ultimate goal is for them to potty outside. It will take longer to house train if you first teach the pup to potty on paper, then turn around and want the pup to potty outside. Some small breed dogs don't like going outside when it is cold or wet so a lot of owners use paper during the winter season.
Invest in a good odor neutralizerMistakes are going to happen so plan for it. If you see your puppy make the mistake act quickly, say NO or use a penny can to startle the puppy, and run it outside to the potty place. If you didn't see the mistake happen, bite your lip, and clean the mistake. Use an odor neutralizer like Nature's Miracle or Simple Solution - these products neutralize odor instead of covering it up. You don't want the puppy going back to the same spot on your carpet.
House training is only the beginning, start thinking about obedience classes. Yes, you can probably teach your puppy to sit, down, and stay, but socialization is good for the puppy. It needs to learn that it is okay for other people, strangers, to touch its paws and ears.

It should get used to going in the car and entering strange buildings and walking properly on a leash now while it's young, that way a year from now you are not stuck with an ill mannered dog. Puppies are a lot of fun but you'll enjoy the dog more if you train properly now. What is cute on a puppy may not be so cute when it's a 75 pound Labrador - plan for the future. A proper foundation is crucial.

1st get loads of newspaper, you can either go to recycle bin or ask your neighbours.

2ed your dog will start to sniff round or pace a sign it needs out.

3ed put the dog on the paper if it misses well at least it tried. if it starts else where pick up even if already started & put on the paper. keep doing this it will soon learn about 2 weeks it will have mastered & move the paper closer & closer to the door then it will start to go out
