I have a kitten who's a few months old, and I need to get him declawed (just the front 2 paws) in order to keep him. I know many people think it's horrible and everything, so I'm not looking for speeches about how inhumane it is. I just need to know how much it costs, approximately, in Ontario,Canada. More specifically, if anyone is from there, in Ottawa.
Thank you!

I've had a few cats before and I've gotten them declawed all the same vet, I guess common sense would be to go there, huh?

I work at an animal hospital in Oregon. The cost of declawing varies by the age and weight of the cat, but for a kitten under five pounds is about $175.
Declawing is not equivalent to having the end of your fingers cut off -- cats' feet are not constructed like human hands. In declawing the tendons that attach the last tiny bone and the claw to the rest of the toe are severed and the joint separates cleanly, A small bead of surgical cement fills the hole for a few days, then falls out. There is almost no bleeding (I have watched the procedure), no stitches are required, and the paws are only bandaged for a few hours. The cat gets pain medication and an antibiotic the first day, and usually none is required after that.
Kittens are up and playing and using their litterboxes normally within a few hours. We keep cats at least overnight, longer for older and bigger cats, just to assure that the beads of surgical cement won't dislodge early, which can result in bleeding from the capillaries.
I had two of my five cats declawed due to fighting and destructiveness, and there have been no bad effects. It did put a stop to the fighting and ripping up the house.
In an ideal world cats would not be declawed, but if it is a choice between that or the cat losing its home, and perhaps its life (not every cat taken to the shelter is adopted), I think it is the better alternative.

If you must declaw, please make sure that the vet uses a scalpel to do it. Some "vets" use dog nail clippers, and this can leave a little piece of the cat's nail bed in the bone, and when the claw inevitably starts to grow back, it comes out the side or bottom and causes pain. Also, make sure it is actually the "vet" that does the procedure, not a technician. No offense to the techs (you all know A LOT and I mean that!), but the vet should be doing the surgery. I'm not going to preach, I have heard of apartments who require declawing cats. I just don't live there.

I'm not from Ottawa, but when we looked into having our cat declawed, the price varied from vet to vet. So ask around and see if anyone knows of a good vet for declawing, because if it's done wrong your cat could have foot problems later.

People have cats declawed so they won't ruin their "precious stuff" (furniture, etc.). People who choose to declaw their cats shouldn't have a cat. It's inhumane and shows what a lazy sleeze the owner is b/c they don't care to train the cat or buy it a scratching post. You're too lazy and selfish to deserve any animal. But that's just my opinion.

Salt causes bloating and butter is loaded with calories, so flavor pasta, a pot of soup, meat, and stews with fresh herbs, garlic, and onions as an alternative.

Add protein powder to fairly sweet recipes (like these Rice Krispies treats) to improve the nutrition.

When creating cookies, bake half the batch and scoop the remaining into ice-cube trays. When ones sweet tooth kicks in, pop out one and bake it to meet your craving without breaking the actual calorie bank.
