I do not think homosexuals choose to be gay just as people do not choose to be straight. I am straight because I am attracted to guys. I feel nothing whatsoever for women. I cannot change who i am attracted to and homosexuals cannot either. Along the lines of what you said, I doubt people would choose to be gay knowing they would have no rights as heterosexual couples and the the prejudice/bigoted views they would face.
Yes there are some people that turn to people of the same sex because of abuse but that is not true for all homosexuals. It think there is a difference between people that are homosexual because they are attracted to the same sex and those that do because of abuse that led to mistrust of the opposite sex. Many people had a good home life and upbringing and end up being homosexuals. So when it comes to attraction I say they are born that way. However, if people turn to the same sex because of abuse by the opposite sex then I say it is a choice they made based on their fear and mistrust.

I do not believe homosexuals choose to be gay, nor do I believe they are that way genetically. But homosexuality is something that can be cultered into people when they are young and still impressionable. I have known many homosexuals and listened to there testimonies. I have known some that had a family member of the same sex or a friend of the family molest them as a child. Or, there was a mother who did not know how to teach her son how to be a man, raised her son effiminate, while dressing him like a little girl when he was younger. There was a father who never had time to spend with his son, so the son went looking for the love of his father in another man. There was a young man or woman who was raped by other women or men in prison and never recovered psychologically, so they lost their self-esteem and lived the homosexual life style. I could go on. But there is nothing which points to homosexuality being genetic.

Yes, partly. I believe we all have temptations and things that the devil knows and he will work at it and work at it until we give in or he gives up. I believe those homosexual tendancies are temptations, ones that can also be overcome. I do NOT believe a person is "born" gay...that is like saying a person is "born" an alcoholic or born addicted to porn. We all have choices and it seems that society is glamorizing, in a way, the "homosexual" side of life... like it's the "in" thing to do/be. I do not judge anyone for their choices, I would never condemn someone or tell them they are "going to hell"...I believe we all have the right and ability to choose good and to ask for help when we need it.
I also believe that God will not let us be tempted above that which he knows we cannot resist...so it makes me think that every temptation that comes my way, hey, I CAN resist, He knows I can and that makes me all the more stronger to resist temptations. Am I perfect? No way, not even close. Thank heaven I know who to lean on though...

If you believe they have a choice, ask yourself this:
Did you have a choice?
Do you remember a time when you were attracted to people of both genders, but then *chose* to be a heterosexual?
Not me. I'm a male who who has always found females kinda yummy. Always have. I've never had a choice. Some people do have a choice ... they have feelings in both directions. But I think for most people, they are just wired a certain way and are slightly, or strongly, predisposed to being attracted to one gender more than the other. To try and *force* people to feel opposite to their natural inclination (as long as that inclination doesn't hurt anybody) is just wrong.

"Why would someone choose to be gay?" Why would someone want to change their religion? Maybe it's just what they feel like they need to do, or be.
Gay's often resort to using this phrase or one similar to it. They state: Why would someone choose to be gay in a world where they will face grief and opposition over their sexual orientation?
To which I respond: Why would a Muslim choose to convert to Christianity in a region of the world like Sudan or Iran where they will face grief, opposition, persecution, or even death over their religious orientation?
Now, some may respond that you cannot compare sexual orientation with religious orientation, since one makes the choice to convert from one religion and that one doesn't choose to be gay, that they are "born that way."
Gays aren't "born that way", though.
1.) Environment plays a strong role in homosexuality developing. Almost all of the experts who have done some type of study on homosexuality say that homosexuality cannot be explained apart from reference to environmental factors.
2.) There is a strong prevalance of same-sex sexual abuse in the childhoods of homosexuals.
3.) Many homosexuals themselves link their homosexuality to their sexual victimization experiences.
4.) Gender Identity Disorder, gender confusion and other environmental factors have been shown to play a role in homosexuality developing in some individuals.
5.) There is no "gay gene." Identical-Twin studies, as well as other studies, have smashed this possibility.
6.) Personal choice, to some degree, is involved in all behaviors, sexual or otherwise. Even some lesbians agree with this. Genetic or environmental factors are never overwhelming.
So, you can see that the argument of "Why would someone choose to be gay in a world where they will face grief and opposition over their sexual orientation", doesn't hold water, and neither does the lie of gays being "born that way."

Evidence proves that homosexuals are homosexuals because of genes, not choice. The people who claim that homosexuals choose to be homosexuals are usually arrogant and like to ignore facts that go against their beliefs.

Whether it is in your genes or not is not important. It is in your genes to be an alcoholic but ultimately it is your CHOICE to take the drink. Your genes many make you have a lust for members of the same sex but you must CHOOSE to act upon that. Just because our society is more accepting of a sin doesn't make it less of a sin.

I don't think it's a genetic predisposition. There's truly no scientific evidence for that. And besides, I'm a former bisexual anyways. I now have no feelings for the same sex. It deffinitely is a choice to make.
