Its like when you tell a child that there is no santa...They get very upset.
Could you imagine how difficult it must be for the core of your version of reality to be taken away. It means you would have to start over. It is very difficult for them.
That is why it is so evil to indoctrinate young people into a religious institution. They will either live in ignorance forever, or risk going crazy if they realize that there is no god when they get older.

"I mean, if I questioned the exitance of pandas, you would mock me."
That's what we do when you question the existence of God. :oP
(For anyone who might be offended by that comment, it was meant to be a joke.)
"Is it because there is evidence to the fact that He is not real?"
And even more evidence that He is.
"If you're so sure he's real, why do people take this hyperdefensive stance?"
I'm not getting defensive. You're the one that's getting defensive (yeah, so I watched Saturday Night Live a few* times).
*"few" as in "quite often"

I think you have the problem nailed down. With a Panda we can go to the Zoo and see one. The religious can not do that. They only have their faith and have never developed any other way to deal with the world. They rely upon an animistic creatore. Animism is a very primitive belief system hardwired into the reptilian stem of our brain.

Desperation - as there is no proof of God even the slightest challenge makes them feel silly. That is probably why so many of them on here show their lack of faith by trying to claim there is proof of God.
You also have to realise that although Christianity (only if you include all the variations from Mormon to geeks) may just be the largest religion, it is still very small in numbers in relation to non believers in Christianity!!

Whoa, there, sonny. Who is it that hollers "separation of church and state" every time they see anything to do with God or religion?
Who is it that is so scared that their precious progeny might hear the words "thank God" that they turn off a kid's mic...a kid, I might add, who had earned the right to say anything she damn well pleased, as if that right weren't already garanteed to her under our own Constitution....she was a valedictorian, for Petes sake.
Who is it that whines about the ten commandments being on display in a court room? As if they weren't a part of our heritage, not to mention darn good rules to live by?
Who is it that cries "foul" when they get handed a tract, as if we didn't know most of them end up in the trash anyway?
Who is it that whines about someone knocking on their door to share the gospel with them, as if you couldn't just politely ask them to go away?
Hperdefensive, I like that. I'd say that describes you to a "T".

What sociology learn tells you to base your findings on merely 2 (and considered one of each and every at that) factors of analyze? you will desire to belong to "Uncle bill's Christian community college" or some thing (or possibly an on line "college" - ha-ha). Too many different factors would desire to be seen, for occasion - ask the comparable question each and every 2 hours. What are your "administration" questions for this learn? Are the questions somewhat suitable or are there somewhat some interpretation themes? have you ever quite thought approximately what would desire to be the user-friendly reaction on your questions? do you recognize the kind of atheists in line with Christian upon the positioning? How are you managing human beings exterior the purview of strictly atheists and Christians? How do you even know which of them are athiests and that are no longer (maximum make no fact of religion or loss of and their responses in lots of circumstances would desire to bypass the two way)? This workout itself is lots too lame. in case you got here up with it, i'd supply at terrific a C-....in case your instructor got here up with it, come across a greater useful college - NOW.

I don't care about pandas. But I DO get upset when people try to tell me that me Best Friend doesn't exist. How would you like it if people insisted that YOU would never have love in your life, that you are a drone with no purpose other than to serve the Corporation, and that you will die alone and friendless for your troubles?

Many people today are very protective of their own ideas about life and religion that they forget the heart of things as they are. many people also think that they can put a monopoly on the whole idea of spirituality. Many people are just filled with spiritual pride and selfishness

well heck ... for a theist their whole ego is based on the concept that ONLY they know The true Truth and the security of their eternal soul is dependent on that belief so of course any questions concerning their god gets their boxers in a wad. they're basically insecure people in the first place or they wouldn't need such restrictive and limited definitions of "God" to make them feel secure.
