Spiders would have several advantages for insect control:
1. No toxic chemicals leaching into the soil and groundwater
2. Spiders are specific: would kill the insects but not the birds or other animals that might be in the neighborhood.
3. If the spiders are successful, they would maintain a population and not have to be "reapplied" every year
4. Spiders are food for birds, toads, and other predators that would also eat insects

Anytime a natural way to control insects is utilized it's advantageous to all. The less poisons used the better. Nature has all the tools necessary for balance. It's up to us to utilize these tools in a manner that does not upset this fragile balance.

Spiders and other predatory insects do not poison the environment nor do they eat the crop.

This method may not be as effective as poisons but it is much better for the environment and the consumer.
