why don't you just roll your sleeves up, admit you were a drunk fool (as we all are at some time) & let your kids learn from your mistake? kids tend to rebel against their parents anyway so maybe they'll become preachers or estate agents.
god help us all.

There's a product called DermaBlend which is a very good cover-up cream - search on the internet for your local stockists. Other than that, laser removal is the only way and you should ask your doctor for the name and address of a recommended clinic. I doubt you would get the removal done free of charge on the NHS but each treatment costs around £60 and, depending on the colour and size of the tattoo, will probably take between 6-10 treatments to completely remove. After about five treatments it will have faded a lot so you could cover with make-up.
I'm currently having something lasered off and wear an elastoplast over it (you have to keep it out of the sun when you are having laser removal). People assume it's an insect bite or a cut.
Good luck.

Laser removal is costly., but definitely an option. Try this page, it talks about laser removal and alternatives: http://tattoo.about.com/od/tatremoval/a/tatremoval.htm
Also, if you decide against that, you might consider getting your tattoo transformed into something else. The real tattoo artists are very talented and accustomed to people coming in with old tattoos that need to be covered and fixed. You can completely change it into a new design.
Hope this helps a little! I've put some more sites here for you to look at:

Well just wear shirts with long enough sleeves to cover it up. If it is a problem because you are going on holiday or going swimming and so need to have it on display, then i guess it just depends on if it causes you so much embarrassment that you want to have it removed? If so, you can either pay for this yourself which i believe is very expensive (and can be painful) - or you could go to your GP tell them it is causing you so much distress and worry it is ruining your life and they will refer you to a psycologist, and if the psycologist agrees it is causing you trauma, then you should get it done on the NHS. Alternatively, do what a lot of people do and go to an excellent tattoo artist who will incorporate it into something more artistically pleasing.

A good artist can look at your work
and give you the best advice on a
cover up. If you just want to get rid
of it and not have any tattoos, he can
provide you with the name of a
doctor to do the work.
They are listed through the
American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
AS/DS. net.org. Good Luck with whatever you do.

discuss having it lasered with your gp and a plastic surgeon.
also there is some brilliant cover up makeup i was prescribed due to a scar. it will definitely help cover it even if it doesnt completely ! again speak to your doc about that. i cant remember what it is called sorry as i have had my scar lasered now so dont use it.
lay on how depressed and self conscious it is making u or you wont get it on prescription.

I had a cousin go through this. You can get some sort of laser treatments, and it takes a few trips. My OTHER cousin got a smiley-face turned into a crown of thorns, which I thought was insanely funny... a smiley-face, of all things...

you have several options here, all of them quite drastic but to rid yourself of this, i for one would do which ever 1 appeals the most, Removal-either my lazer, cream, or e-raze method, or, have a cover up done. Some thing that you can live with. here are a couple of links for removal, http://www.angelsbodystudioltd.co.uk/28.html http://www.tatbgone.com/default.asp?pageid=2833
