They were worn in memory of the great Celtics coach Red Auerbach who led them to 11 world championships in 13 years, a record that will never be broken. Red died recently. Not so funny or ugly now, huh??

It was a tribute to Red Aurbach. They are the St. Patrick's Day uniforms. Luckly for true Red Sox fans like myself they only wear them once a year and it is in spring training.

I made the exact same comment when I was watching the game. But the Sox can wear those things as often as they want if that means that they light up Mariano every night. Go Sox.
