That your husband or whomever has the right to beat you, tell you what to do, quiz your every movement, and basically GPS track your steps?
What do else do you mean when you say "women should be submissive"?
I am mainly referring to Islam and Christianity (Fundie type).
Why do you all think you are not worthy to govern your own selves and operate under your own principles and virtue and indivduality?

Sybil...I make my own decisions because I am a GROWN woman who runs her own home and takes matters into my own hands. My husband is deployed in the ME right now...what am I supposed to do by your "religious" standards, e-mail him everytime I need to cop a squat to ask for the go ahead?
You may not be stupid, but you make stupid attempts at insults, and that makes you look the part.

I think you are requesting information that will reinforce your sureness that females and males are equals, and that neither one has no dominion over the other. Satisfaction for everyone in a relationship requires cooperation. And finally, why should women be submissive to anything? Without women, there would be no possibility for the species to survive. Humans are not animals, and males, without fail, resort to the example of a males domination over females in the animal realm. Animals, are driven by seasonal estrus. Heck, even female dogs, if given the chance to make a choice from more than one male, will choose the one she likes the best. It is important for you to understand that every reference in all of the "holy" books, were written by males. What does that tell you?

I am The Christian wife of a Christian Husband who I am - lovingly and willing submissive with and He IS GOOD to me!!!! I am LOVED like I have NEVER been LOVED before I have an incredible life and Praise the LORd everyday for my husband!!!!!! 1 Corinthians 11.
My husband DOES NOT hit me - or abuse me - THAT IS UNGODLY AND NOT PURE!!!! GOD WANT MARRIAGE TO BE PURE AND HOLY!!!!!!
There is a Divine Order spoken in 1 Corinthians 11. Paul even states that some have contention with this chapter and others - but, it's the Word of the Lord!!!!!
Woman was taken from the Rib of Man By God!
Read also 1 Timothy chapters 2 and 5. Many people who claim to be 'Christian' reject these words of God - at least they have claimed to me and others - "That does not matter" -YES it DOES - If it comes from the Word of God it DOES!!!!
Oh Well, My Prayers are for you.
Grace Be Unto You!
Take Care and God Bless!

No, I'm not a woman but the Christian husband of a Christian wife.
Why do you selectively misquote the Bible? You do know this a form of dishonesty, don't you? This is why in a court of law, both sides must be heard. And the oath that a witness takes is to tell the truth, the WHOLE truth....
There are many places in the Bible where a husband is told to love his wife, to treat her kindly and with consideration (because she is weaker, physically). But the most powerful injunction is that a husband should love his wife just a Christ love the church, willing to give his life for her safety and well-being. "Eph 5:25 Husbands, have love for your wives, even as Christ had love for the church, and gave himself for it".
Which woman would even consider refusing such love!!

Like men, women are to be submissive to Almighty God, their Supreme Creator and Lord. No exceptions. Men are, by nature, the physically stronger of the sexes. However, this does not give them the authority or the right to beat women (wives or not). Nor does that give them the authority or the right to control, dominate, or power-trip over women.
Women are human beings, not things or possessions. Being the physically weaker of the sexes does not make women less human, less intellectual, or less spiritual than men.
Men came out of the wombs of women as helpless newborn infants and were raised to their full adulthood. How they are "superior" to women is beyond my comprehension.

Who told you that? In order for the married couple to live under Gods law the husband must put his wife before himself on all matters she comes first. So I ask you who is "over" who? So what if the wife is to give the husband the last word on matters? Except you created role sister and you won't be so angry and unhappy. God Bless

Did you ever think that God gave men the leadership role in order to raise them UP to the standard of womanhood, rather than to bring women DOWN?
Shouldn't we, as women, help them to reach their full potential?
I don't know about women in Islam...I can't see how they figure that wearing that silly hajib makes them "safe" from men.
But Christian women are equal in every way to men. We are different, and our differences complement one another.
Love is the great equalizer.....

Islam says that men and women are equal. Christianity says to "obey" your husband only if he obeys God's rule of how to treat a woman. There are specifics that go along with that.

Yes, God tells us to be submissive to our husbands in that we are being supportive to them, allowing them to be the spiritual leaders of our homes, to trust them with decisions related to the family and to be their help mate. It does not refer to being a stepped on door mat. In the same chapter God tells the husband to love his wife as Christ loves the church. If you know anything about Christ, you will know that He was not a physical and violent person. So if a husband abuses his wife he is being worldly, not godly, as God intended and a wife does not need to subject herself to abuse.

well it depends on what you mean by submissive.i think women should be submissive to their husbands in a sense that they should support their husbands in a time of hardships and comfort them. but women shouldn't allow their husbands to beat them and the like.
