Alright, this is the cheapest way to solve your problem, but it looks that way to...pick up some lightweight metal or even PVC, 1/2 inch should be fine, then you're going to attach those to the top of the fence at a 45 degree leaning into your yard. Stay with me, it's hard to type this down and make it understandable...get a piece of rope, color really doesnt matter, that is long enough for the legnth of fence, run that rope through, or it to each pole that you just added. Essentially you are going to end up with a shield of sorts. Its an extension of your fence without the pricey fence...this will alter your dogs depth perception and he won't hop the fence. If you have a pretty standard size fence, 2 feet of the poles angled at 45 should be fine. I hope this didn't get too confusing.

A couple cheaper options over head trolley that the dog is chained 2 it allows some running room without tangling and you can position and put a stopper on to prevent from getting near the fence (like a clothes line pole will a wire stretched acrossed the top and leash clipped to it http://www.nextdaypets.com/directory/pet_supplies/Heavy-Weight-Overhead-Dog-Trolley-Exerciser-P306C0.aspx

If your dog lives mostly inside another option could be using a harness with plastic bottle attached and partly filled with water, keeps the dog off balance so they cannot jump, it is a method used at some greyhound kennels with some of their jumpers rather than having to overhaul and change all the fencing just for the odd few that will jumpover a fence

Have you looked into deer fencing this could work angled into your yard

I once had an elderly lady for a friend. She had a wonderful little dog. A mix of some sort. She had the dog trained well and it behaved very well. Learn here https://tr.im/qadDG

She kept an uncovered candy dish on her coffee table with candy in it. The dog was forbidden to eat the candy. When she was in the room observing the dog he did not even appear to notice the candy. One day while she was in her dinning room she happened to look in a mirror and could see her dog in the living room. He did not know he was being watched. For several minutes he was sitting in front of the candy bowl staring at the candy. Finally he reached in and took one. He placed it on the table and stared at it, he woofed at it. He stared some more, licked his chops and PUT IT BACK in the bowl and walked away. Did he want the candy, oh yeah. Did he eat it? Nope. They can be trained that well but most, I'll admit, are not trained that well. When I was a young boy, maybe 5 years old. We had a german shepherd. He was very well trained also. My mom could leave food unattended on the table, no problem. She would open the oven door and set a pan roast beef or roast chicken on the door to cool. No problem. He would not touch it, watched or not. But butter? Whole other story. You leave a stick of butter anywhere he could reach and it was gone. He was a large shepherd so there were not many places he could not reach. Really, I think the number of dogs trained to the point they will leave food alone when not being supervised is very small indeed.
.
Now if we are talking obedience training, not food grubbing, that is a different story. Way back when I was first learning obedience training one of the final exercises was to put our dogs in a down/stay and not only leave the room but leave the building for 15 minutes. The only person that stayed was our trainer, not the owners. Most of the dogs in my class did not break their stay, which would be an automatic fail. I'm happy to report my dog was one of the ones that passed.

Similar to Stephen J's answer but really cheap. Nail some 1x1 pieces of wood to the fence at a 45 degree angle inward. Staple some chicken wire to it. He won't be able to jump that. It stopped my Border Collie from jumping over the fence. But his next plan was to pull a board out of the fence. He was an escape artist.

Buy a lease. It's the cheapest. Invisible fences do work, but not for all dogs. A guy I used to work with had an invisible fence for his beagle. He said his beagle would go up to the fence line and start yelping, then just run across.

No don't even think of this idea if you want to keep your dog alive. That item is for livestock and wild anamals (deer). This would kill you dog if he hit it. Plus if the dog is jumping the fence this would not work! Try PetSafe Wireless Instant Fence by Radio Systems from pets smart, it is safer and harmless to the dog but keeps it in the defined area. Or you could try PetSafe® In-Ground Fence Systems from pet smart it is from 179.99
to 299.99
And please don't use an electric fence if you like our dog it is Deadly and harmfull!

hi! the electric fence control unit costs way more than 150$ and they are for wire fences not tin or wood.
she will just clear it without touching anyway. forget it!
why?? is she jumping? bored? wants to follow you?
one tactic is to hide,( neighbours is ideal if they are friendly) when she is about to go over- a hose on high to change her ideas! maybe ask the neighbours to assist??
sheep fencing is an easy alternative i use..you need to add stakes or supports of some kind to the existing fence posts and just slide it over posts in a weaving type manner , ie couple strands over one side , then the other..your neighbours and council may not approve.

alternative is pine lattice same deal, add higher supports to existing post ... for about 40? a panel you can halve it and gain a 3ft x 6ft strip, better looking, adds privacy and then grow creepers on it to help block her view!
