If his weight is good then you don't need to feed him anymore. I would suggest you go to the store and pick up some beef bones. Dogs love them, they are good for them, and will give him something to chew on through the day which may help curb the wanting to eat.

It could just be a behavioural thing, as people have said. What breed is your dog? Some, like labradors, will just eat until they explode, it's just the way they're made.
You could try a change of food - look at the nutrition info on the packs and try to find one that is high in fibre. Fibre makes a food more filling - diet foods are high in fibre to allow dogs to eat less without going hungry.
And no I am not recommending diets with loads of corn 'fillers' etc, before people start. Go with a reputable company to be sure you're getting high quality as well as high fibre, like Hills, Purina etc.
However if your dog has not always displayed this behaviour, or it has significantly increased lately, it might be worth having a word with your vet. You dog is getting on in age after all, and their are disorders that can increase a dog's appetite to no avail.
Oh and yes - carrots are a good between meal snack, didn't think of that! :-) apples too. You can cut them into slices an just feed a few as you would biscuits.

Feed him at his regular intervals and get him a good schedule going. Don't feed him McDonald's or other foods like that as it has the same effect on dogs as it does on people. Processed foods tend to make them more hungry. So don't give in to his begging. He may not be getting the right types of food. The expensive snobby brands you may think are good for your dog may be just the same generic garbage that they have trying to pawn off as high quality dog food. You may need to augment with healthy treats. Also beware because that pet food recall is not finished. 8 more food products had been added to the list. They had been adding a food additives to wheat gluten from china that makes dogs sick to increase protein levels and it does not . These companies will not let U.S. inspectors in their manufacturing facilities so you got to wonder what they are putting in their dog food see if you can get a dog food that is processed and manufactured in the U.S. They may not be the most expensive brand either check at your local feed store. We bank our food and our food in processed locally. It is fairly inexpensive but the dogs like it and they have not been getting sick. I hope this helps.

No tips, you just don't feed him. He's fed his kibble, and as long as the vet says he's of a healthy weight, then he doesn't need to eat. If he's begging for food, then ignore him. Make him leave the room whenever you sit down to eat. Dogs beg and act hungry until they're trained not to.

after all he is a dog. My puppy does the same thing. if he finished his food he wants treats. I know it's hard but it's best not to give in since you don't want your dog to be overweight. Try dog food and treats with less fat and low calorie. The best thing is to call your vet and talk to somebody there. good luck

dogs are jst like humans. the more we do the more we burn and the more we eat. by saying that, does your dog exercise more?? is he active? if yes, then feed him jst a bit more, if not, feed him the recommended amount that is on the bag and curb his treats. dogs are scavengers and gluttons.
if my pup had his way, he'd eat all his food, the cat's, and anything off the shelf of goodies for him. And anything i drop on the kitchen floor.
good luck. be firm!!

Carrots make an inexpensive good crunchy lo cal snack. Midday, sometimes I cut the carrot into 1/2" discs and roll them down the hallway. My doxies love the chase!
