Today before you think of saying an unkind word
Think of someone who can't speak
Before you complain about the taste of your food
Think of someone who has nothing to eat
Before you complain about your husband or wife
Think of someone who's crying out for a companion
Today before you complain about life
Think of someone who died too early
Before you complain about your children
Think of someone who desires children but they're barren
Before you argue about your dirty house; someone didn't clean or
sweep
Think of the people who are living in the streets
Before whining about the distance you drive
Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet
And when you are tired and complain about your job
Think of the unemployed, the disabled and those who wished they had
your job
But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another
Remember that not one of us are without a fault, and we all answer to one
maker
And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down
Put a smile on your face and be thankful you're alive and still around.
Life is a gift
Live it...
Enjoy it...
Celebrate it...
And fulfill it.

Tell them the truth and go to mass. I do not believe in a God, however if you do then you must follow along the path that you think is for you. Hopefully your family will respect you for your thoughts and beliefs, just as you must respect others and not force your beliefs on others. If your family is willing to talk about them in the future then that is ok, but all parties must respect it when someone no longer wishes to discuss. Good luck on your journey, just always keep an open mind and realize that a lot of people do not need religion to have a relationship with God, as religion was invented and created by humans, or else why would there be so many of them?

I think you should tell them. Telling the truth will make you stronger. They are your parents and they love you. I am sure they will be proud of you for telling them the truth, and also for being mature enough to have your own thoughts and beliefs and be able to make decisions with out them.
I have a daughter and I would welcome her making descisions like this on her own and I think your parents will too. Most Aethiests I know are very liberal thinkers, so I am sure they are tolerant of others views. Well done for getting this far and good luck.

It is a sin to lie and there is no need for you to lie about going to church. Just tell them---it is your right as a human being to go to church.

Atheists are more accepting of everyone's views than you might think. I myself am an atheist, but I allowed my kids to attend church when they were younger. I highly doubt your family will try to stop you.
Talk with your parents, tell them how you feel, and ask that you be allowed to attend.

I'm sure not lying to your family is high on the list of God's expectations. So, you'll have to tell them the truth. Your family should respect your decision.
