If i require 50c stamps to mail a letter to a country, can i stick $1 stamps (if i don't have any 50c stamps)? Will anything go wrong?

Nothing will go wrong.
You're just overpaying the postal service.

US postage increases to 41 cents on May 1, 2007.

Nope, you will just be overpaying, a normal letter cost .39 if its more than 4 pages use .63

You did not say where you are, but if you put too much postage on the letter will go to the destination.

If you put too little postage on the letter will be returned for additional postage.

It's to much. It only takes 39c to mail it in the USA. Starting on May 14, it will go up to 41c to mail in the USA. :)

No - your friend will receive your letter. Then never stop mail for overpaying for it.

just go to the post office of what ever country you are in, the post office will help you. and not over charge you. by putting more then what its worth, nothing will go wrong, you are just wasting money.

if you have money to just throw away, then Please, Throw some my way :)
