Don't worry too much. It's great that she has a strong connection with him and obvisouly adores him. Just because she didn't say mum first doesn't mean she loves you any less than him. My daughter is the same I can worship the ground she walks on all day but as soon as daddy walks through the door I get dumped. Encourage the bond that they share and before you know it she will be saying mum. This might also be because she has heard dad being said more than mum, or that it is easier for her to say.

Dada is easier to say. I have two boys and now a 10 month old daughter. She said strictly Dada for a month or so. She still only says Momma out of necessity. If someone is holding she doesn't want holding her or if she wants picked up then she says Momma. I wouldn't take anything a baby does personally.

that is with any baby,I read an article on this a long time ago, I think it said the syllables in DA-DA were easier for them to say. don't worry soon enough all you will her is mom do this mom do that! I understand about the father thing but be glad that your baby has a father in her life that really loves her. think of it as a blessing, the mother does 99% of the care for the baby but when it comes to daddy they are play time and the baby reconizes that, even when they get older you will become the rule maker and daddy will still be play time, my daughter is 7 and she still thinks daddy is there to play and doesn't take him seriously when he tries to correct her. Enjoy her because they grow up too fast.

All babies say "dada" first. Those syllables are easier to pronounce & some of the first they learn. Say it out.... da or mmmm a ma the m takes more force. Elmo is something your child will be saying very soon also if she watches it. Those are also beginner sylabols. Ingeniouse jerks on Sesame Street.

Hey there !

U know its funny, but thats what my little honey did too. She said dada first and it made me furious. My husband too spends just over a hour with my daughter :) But it will pass. Now that my baby talks, all I hear is mumma ! She will eventually get attached to U and dada wont be too thrilled then :)

Good Luck !
Mish !

I believe it is because of the way the mouth and tongue move to say the word. Because a baby doesn't have to put their lips together to say the letter "D" it is easier for them. Don't get your feelings hurt and be grateful their is a DADA around.

I understand sweety. But I think MOST babies say dada first-cuz the d sound is a bit easier for them. Chin up. Be happy that your baby girl is given the love that you missed out on and thank your man for being there for her and for you.

Well, it's the matter of time that ur baby girl will say 'mamma' honestly, every baby is differnt u need to have some patience. Maybe it's also easier for ur girl to say daddy instead of mamma. And i am sorry about ur father u should just wait for the right time =)

It is just usually the first thing that a baby can say. It doesn't have anything to do with him. She would be saying dada if he wasn't around.

Because its the easiest thing a baby can say and its just babbaling dont stress to much about it just what until she really gets going then you won't be able to stop her saying mum
