If you want to go out on a party boat, take the Belt Parkway to the Knapp Street exit. Drive along Emmons Avenue and you have your pick of boats, leaving at different times and going after different kinds of fish. There are several bait and tackle shops on Emmons Avenue.

I'm from Jersey (raised in North, lived in South for 15 years). If you want some areas of the Central Jersey Shore, try almost anywhere from the Raritan Bay and Sandy Hook down to around Seaside Heights (Garden State Parkway Exits 129-80); "The Hook" usually has good fishing.
In the South Jersey Shore (anywhere south of Long Beach Island), you'll have your pick of spots from LBI to Great Egg Harbor Bay, all the way down to Cape May Point. If you're looking for a bit of a challenge and some variety in the fish you can catch, GSP Exit 0 is the spot (it's where the Delaware meets the Atlantic). From Queens, the Raritan River-Point Pleasant zone is about an hour or two; much of the South Jersey Shore is a 2-3 hour ride, but probably with more varied species of fish to catch since the floods this past week.

There really isn't any good fishing areas out there anymore unless you don't want to Eat the fish. When I was young I would fish off the Crossbay Bridge in Howard Beach but Jamaica Bay became very polluted from JFK Airport and the Tanks. Why don't you take a drive out to the Jones Beach Pier. There are some jetties along the Jersey coast that you can walk out on but you will need lots of extra tackle because of the snags and line loss.

Only fish running now are winter flounders and striped bass. Not too many winter flounders yet you could try Canarsie Pier, Exit 13 on the Belt Parkway. On the North Shore, you could try Little Neck Bay for striped bass. Park at the bottom of Cocheron Park in Bayside and walk to the overpass to fish in the bay.

North Fulton or East Cobb will in all probability be the closest to what you're used to. that ought to comprise Sandy Springs, Dunwoody Roswell, Alpharetta, East Marietta or Vinings. As one and all has suggested, you will ought to take your holiday into attention because of the fact the commutes are terrible here. the main important situation this is that there particularly isnt' a distiction between the suburbs. rather of small cities with a small city experience, this is one significant strip mall and you won't be able to tell the place one burb ends and the different starts off. additionally, you will must be arranged for some substantial adjustments. Crime is everywhere here and there is not any place it particularly is 86% white around here. you will discover lots of identifying to purchase, eating places and espresso shops yet they're going to usually be chains.
