My son at age 16, just got glasses for driving. No give deal, and if you don't want to wear glasses theres contact lenses. Glasses are in- right now, so don't be ashamed if you need them. I've had them since I was10 yrs old, I'm 40 something and I had Lasik only because I couldn't wear my contacts anymore, but I still need glasses to read. I'm going to get a new pair this summer, either a blue or red, something fun with bling.

I first got glasses when i was 18. I had just started uni and realised that i couldn't see the boards all the way at the front of the lecture theatre. I hated them at first and refused to wear them and copied notes from my friends because i thought i looked like a nerd.
I came to learn to love wearing them after i was perving on a guy and saying to my friends he looked alright etc and when he go closer he was probably older than my grandfather. Funny now, embarassing then!
I still don't wear them all the time though. I only wear them when i drive (and i recently got some prescription sunglass lenses put in some designer frames so no one knows the difference!), when i go to the movies and when i watch TV.
It's not really so bad having glasses now, you can actually get some really trendy frames and stuff, so you don't need to worry about looking like harry Potter, not that that is a bad thing i suppose.
Your eyes could stay the same, they could get worse and they could even get better. You just need to keep getting them tested every 2 years or so so you can get new ones if you have to.
You'll find you'll probably only wear them when you drive, in class and when you go to the movies anyway, so it'snot like you're going to wear them to parties or the beach or anything anyway - unless you want to avoid perving on grandparents!!

First of all, go to an opthamologist and get your eyes checked. I got my first glasses when I was 18 and in college. There was just so much reading that my eyes couldn't keep up. Now I'm 56 and I need glasses all the time. I find glasses to be uncomfortable. Thus, I wear contact lenses all the time. (I have a couple of pairs in green just for fun!) Some people have a hard time at first with getting their lenses in and out, but I think they are very easy. Your doctor can adjust the lenses so you can use them for reading and distance.
But, please, please, please, go get your eyes tested. You want to make sure you don't have a worse problem than just needing to get your sight adjusted.
Final thought: have you ever spoken to anyone about the possibility you have a panic disorder when it comes to testing? There's a possibility that this is the primary issue. If so, you want to talk to someone. If you do, special arrangements can be made to allow you to do your test in a more comfortable environment but usually only after you have received a proper diagnosis.
Good luck.

I've had glasses since I was 9. I probably needed them at about 7.
I have to wear them all the time if I want to know what that blur actually is. Identifying the blur is important in life, trust me.
They can be hard to get used to, but you do, and it's really important you see things.
Your eyesight may get worse, it may not. There's no way to tell. You may always need them. The eye doctor would be the one to ask. You may not like the answers, but that's who you need to ask.
My eyes got worse and worse every year. I was nine and I was scared I was going to be blind by the time I was 14. At about 13, I finally asked the eye doctor when I would totally lose my sight. The man was shocked no one ever explained to me what was happening, and spent 30 minutes with me making sure I knew I was going to be fine.
They can be very attractive. I know people who look better with glasses than without. Besides, you can always switch to contacts or save your money and have the surgery done when you're older.

I wasin the situation as you. In 5th grade I knew i had declining vision. I could'nt see the board at school and etc. I never told anyone. 1 yr later I was forced to the eye doc. I was told i needed to have glasses all the time. well i got mad and for another 2yrs i never wore them. I was afraid of being nerdy. So i was going in to high I decided this needed to be done and i couldnt run for ever. I wore them to my first day in high shool. No one made fun of me. Some prople said i looked mature and smart. Now i wear glasses all the time. I dont care. If someone does say something I say "UR UGLY AND I CAN TAKE THEESE OFF!" that shuts 'em up. But now my vision is horrible. I cant even see the big E on the chart. Most of it was from not wearing glasses. Wear them now andstop your eyes from worsening. Get nice looking frames. And they actully preserve our sight better if you wear them all the time.
PS. I actully think that girls with glasses are king cute and sexy

- I have glasses.
-I cannot answer this question as I don't drive.
-It's not all bad having glasses.
-I was 14 when I got glasses, im now 16.
-I'm not too sure about that, it's best to go back to the optician and ask him/her.
I have to wear glasses for things close up, but I know I should but I don't wear them that often, only when I really struggle to read things, like i'm not wearing them now and Ican still read, i don't really see why they gave me glasses, it's just in the summer when i get hayfever my eyes are all funny and my glasses help me then. You could get contact lenses aswell, i've never tried them, but they are hardly visable and Some glasses are really trendy- i'm sure people who have glasses as a fashion thing dont really need them and they are dummy lenses!

i have glasses. i wear my glasses the entire time while im awake. i personally hate them because they slide down my nose and always manage to get filthy! but maybe you can get contacts? they dont hurt at all. i've had them since i was ..10ish but i didnt start wearing them until my eyesight got even worse so really i wore them at 15. im 16 now. no glasses will help your eyes from getting worse. and i mean, maybe you will need them your whole life, but they really aren't that terrible, i mean, they help you see! :) and you can try to get contacts or laser eye surgery if they drive you up a wall.

yes.
i wear both contacts or glasses, since my eyesight got worse every 6 mths while growing up. it doesn't mean that you will have horrible eyesight at all. you might just need them for driving, etc. but if you don't get the glasses, your eyes will become strained and you'll get more problems. just get them. there are plenty of cute frames out there, even for blind people like me!

i totally know the feeling... yes i have glasses but i wear contacts mostly...i need to wear them when i'm driving because if i didn't it would be bad...generally, it's kind of a pain but it's worth it because then you can see... i got glasses two years ago, when i was 14.... yes most likely you will have glasses for the rest of your life but it'll be worth it because then you can function normally...just make sure you get frames you love because then you will wear them... the first pair i got, i wasn't really a big fan of, and i never wore them and my eyes got worse...you will definately have to wear them... just keep your head up and be confident...good luck
