You are a good friend for asking. Reese's Peanut Cups should be okay. Just make sure your friend remembers to brush his/her teeth more often when eating candy. The last thing you want is straight teeth with cavities.

I got braces as an adult and decided plain ice cream was the best sweet treat.

Once I got something caught in the braces and the pain was excruciating until I flossed my teeth and discovered it was only a tiny piece of a nut. So, I stopped eating nuts and I never forgot to brush and floss carefully after that.

Final thought: be really carefully with things such as salad, spinach and broccoli. Otherwise your friend will have a green smile. ;-)

No candy that is hard or really sticky, like jolly ranchers and caramel, they are a big no. Although we advise against any candy, we know you will eat some anyway so have some M&M's or Resse's Peanut Butter Cups are fine too. Any of the softer candys that are bite size are better for the orthodontic work. Good luck, and it's very sweet of you to check this out for your friend. Hopefully you'll buy him/her a big bag of candy for an after placement surprise although ice cream would be a better choice as it will be soothing to the sore gums and teeth.

Well I have braces and I usually chew gum(sugarless) and you can eat Resse Cups cause they don't do anything to your braces. You can eat hard candy as long as you don't chew on it, but don't eat a whole lot of chewy candy because they get stuck in your braces really easily.

anything that's not gonna harm their brackets. so no toffee, caramel or stuff cuz it's gonna pull their brackets off. it's happened to me. and hard candy that you're supposed to suck on? its ok but if u bite it its not ok. and choco and stuff is ok just nothing too hard or too sticky or caramel like. you know what i mean. unless they have see-thru braces then they can't eat like anything ( not just candy ) or theyr braces r gunna turn yello but usually the braces rnt see thry
