How about some new strategies? What tactics do you think work best? We've seen roadside bombs used to great effect but is there any way they could be improved? And what about alternatives to suicide bombers? The resistance might be desperate and hopelessly outgunned but there must be better ways.
What tactics are most suitable for a guerilla war against a larger, better equipped force?

Now look I am not looking for insults here. What we want is sensible ideas to maximise kill rates.
The more of the imperialist soldiers who are killed the quicker the war will become untenable for the fascists and they'll go home.

Electricpole you are living in a dream world. This war is not about liberty, development and freedom. This war is about controlling the World's energy source so that the people who own you (yes that's right although you are too feeble to realise this you Lemming) and the rest of America can make a pile of cash to add to the mountains they already have, do whatever they want and satisy their meglomaniac psychotic egos.

Why don't you post your own quesiton then Briang and stop spoiling mine by batting for the other side?
At least you will make people see what is really going on with your lack of morality. Go after their families - you mean murder their children of course - ethnic cleansing? genocide? Why not just murder everyone in the middleeast then install a big pipeline to pump the oil out? Anyway, they are already doing what you have suggested what do you think bombs are for?

I'm going to humor you, Questioner, since your political views are fixed and mired more or less in ignorance. That's fine.
Tactically, there is very little the insurgent groups in Iraq or Afghanistan can do. There are no uber-weapons available to change the face of the conflict, since the United States is able to field countermeasures very rapidly, unlike the rigid entities such as the old Soviet Army. The insurgent groups lack both the organization, cohesive leadership, and training that enable them to field units of sufficient size and strength like Main Force VC Regiments, able to take on American units of equivalent size. These problems are more or less irreparable, since the tribal system works against having cohesive leadership and organization, and training is valueless if you do not have infrastructure in place to maximize it.
There are no better ways per se. Long-distance precision fire (largely ineffective because of the scarcity of sniper weapons and trained personnel), VBIEDs and IEDs are the norm. You don't win wars that way. Like Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan are wars where an American unit down to the Battalion or Company level NEVER has to worry about being overrun or being decimated.
That's tactics. As for strategy, strategy is tied to political aims, and that is a whole different ballgame. Since the motivation for each of the various groups (Badr Corps, Mahdi Army, et al) are vastly different, there will never be a unified "resistance" movement in Iraq. Same goes for Afghanistan, where the Taliban has never been able to win over groups such as the Hazara or the Tajiks.
So the only way YOU personally can help these groups is to volunteer for frontline combat duty, or donate funds directly. Both are sponsoring or enabling acts of terrorism and will get you the sort of end to your life you so crave and deserve.

I believe the larger, well equipped force should take a page out of the Israeli play book ! When they catch these so called freedom fighters, they go after their families too. Blow up their homes, and send them across the Iranian border to be cared for by their benefactor, Armadinejad!
The other thing the larger force should do is take a page out of the WWII playbook. Go after the supply source of these so called freedom fighters and bomb the piss out of the source. It worked well in WWII, why wouldn't it work today ?

Please volunteer to personally deliver any ideas to them yourself. Especially if you are a female, atheist, gay, Christian, agnostic, or have any ideas that they do not agree with.
The American Media is the best weapon available after a lazy & weak public. It worked in Vietnam, so there is precedence in this regard.
But please, PLEASE consider the idea of putting down your game-boy, getting off your over protected (by somebody else), rear end and make the trip yourself. Do the responsible thing, it's only fair, since right now the "Freedom" fighters are bashing the government you hate for you, and the US servicemen/women are defending your right to bash it in your sarcastic manner. So what are YOU doing?

I have a GREAT idea!
We secretly send 1 million school buses to the Afghanistan and Iraq so that all of them can get in and blow themselves up in the middle of the desert.

You
You sir, are a horrible person. The real reason the west is in the middle east is to finish the crusades, a job left undone a thousand years ago.
We need to hunt down and destroy people who support terrorists, people who destroy marketplaces full of civilians, people who use children as decoys to blow up more people.
We need to hunt down and destroy people like YOU.

Ahh, you like to be the instigator, huh? The old saying goes "One mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter." Guess you're the other man in this case.......
