Because people choose not to believe in a God.

some people cannot believe anything unless they see it- however that theory isn't really adequate because of the fact- they do not see the air they breathe and they know it exists.
I think the main reason they do not want to believe in God is because if they did they would have to be accountable to Him. We are basically born in pride and selfishness and wanting to live on our own. However, in reality God created us with an emptiness that can only be filled with Him.

1. People have a hard time believing in things they can't see
2. They think that if there were a God that He wouldn't have let the bad things that have happened to them happen
3. They see some over-the-top religions and don't want to be a part of that
4. They don't want to face the idea that they may go to Hell
5. They don't want to live a moral life so they turn away completely
.... and many more

From reading these answers, it seems to me that some people can't believe in God because they just haven't had a spiritual experience yet.

You are asking in the wrong context - it's not can or can't, but rather will or won't. Many people who don't believe in God actually once did. It is through broadening of the mind, accepting fact when presented and free will and confidence that we choose not to believe. We have the self-assuredness to acknowledge the facts that are presented to us.

For the same reason some people can. It's a personal need. I don't need a higher power to believe in to be happy in my short time on earth. Some people do and that's fine for them.

God so real that we cannot even put our minds to the thought, i mean just look around you.

God does not need to be proven. All we need is faith. and if there was proof then it wouldn't be faith.
and everytime i see answers like these, i'm so scared for people's salvation.and seeing that Jesus is coming back soon,it's even more scarier, but at the same time exciting that we won't have to deal with these things when Jesus comes.

God Bless...

Maybe some of us kinda do but don't see the point in devoting our entire lives to something that may or may not exist. If more people devoted their lives to things that do exist, crime, poverty, the ones they loved..etc.. the world would be a much better place.

Anyway, if we don't believe and it does turn out to be true, we can all repent and be forgiven for our sins eh?

Some of the above answers, and also out of attachment to sinful activities. If they would admit the existence of God, oh how much to give up!
