This might be a tough one.

It's a sci-fi/horror movie that was made between the late 50's to early 60"s. Filmed in B&W and the plot centered in a nuclear holocaust type of setting. The story took place in the Arizona or Utah mountain ranges where I recall that there was one and possibly two man-sized creatures roaming around the woods that surrounded a house, keeping the characters at bay. The house was "sanctuary" for a scientist, his daughter, and maybe up to four other characters. The mountain range kept most of the radioactive fallout from entering the valley. The only thing I can say for sure is that the scientist dies of radiation sickness around the time they get a faint radio signal that informs them of improved conditions. At that point only the male lead and female lead survive and the movie ends with them leaving the house.

Any help you can give will be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I think you might be talking about Panic in Year Zero!, which starred Ray MIlland. It is also called End of the World.

i think the movie is one called The Day the World Ended.

the only reason i remember it--Mike Connors plays the bad guy. after seeing him in Mannix, i saw the movie again late night and was surprised to find his name in the credits was Touch Connors. i think Richard Denning was in it too--and a bunch of other sci-fi movies of the 50s.
