Sometime ago, a friend was walking and accidently squished a slug, and boy did I get mad! I went on and on about it. It's not just this, but whenever I see a dead animal like a slug, worm or mouse dead, or even when I am driving and see dead animals hanging from a van. I almost stop breathing for a second and sometimes even get watery eyes. Now don't get me wrong, I HATE bugs. But then why do I feel this way? Sorry, it's a silly question, but always wondered.

I cant tell you why you feel this way but I feel exactly the same i even go as far as in films i what a person get hurt or killed and it doesn't upset me "its not real" but when it's an animal I am nearly in tears every time. May it's because they are completely defenseless

My wife gets that way if she sees hunters coming back with deer in the truck or if she sees a dead animal on the road, she can't look or she gets freaked out and all upset. It doesn't happen with bugs and slugs though. She just screams when she sees one of those. She is such an animal lover. Maybe it's that you feel all life is precious, even those slugs and bugs. You know, they do all have a purpose here. Don't change and don;t let people bother you if they think you;re silly. It's part of what I love about my wife.

Your feeling is'nt weird but more like very emotional. You would'nt actually care to have a garden of slugs but you respect the life it has no matter how big or small. Now, if you begin having anxiety attacks over this you might want to seek some counseling (no you're not crazy) and it could be as simple as talking to your family physician. It seems you have a good heart and you already asked us what we think so maybe now you should ask a professional.. Hope this helps

I feel the same way as you, but not for bugs. But birds, mouse, cats and dogs etc, it totally turns my stomach. The older I get, the more it turns.. Especially when the animals are dead next to the road..

ok this is not bugs, but I was driving home to visit my family one night when a possum (a pest here in NZ..cute tho) was loping along the middle of the road...I swerved...to hit it !! (too much time at uni being told how bad they were and my work at the time was in conservation) .
While dealing with the guilt of diliberately killing my first animal ,I saw a rabbit....another pest and hit it too...it was less swerving on this one.....I spent the last hour of my jouney incredibly guilt ridden and could still see the little possum loping along the road in front of me!! (It was 10years ago and I still feel a little bad!!!). I know they are pests, and I hate the damage they do, but they have such cute little eyes......

Maybe you have been a bug in a past life, it is possible but you need to leave the past behind and let the futures bright colours and flowing ways let you into the future leaving the shadowy, dark past behind.

If this carries on you need to see a physchrist.

Good luck

im the same , i will never step on a snail, i feel sorry for them, i love all little bugs or animals, one story for you, ive got kids and we had some wild little birds build a nest in our backyard tree, my kids called me all excited, i went outside and found all the little eggs from the nest smashed on the floor, my kids looked so proud, i screamed my a r s e off, i felt so guilty for the bird family, my kids are scared to ever pull a stunt like that again

Wow. That's exactly like me. I hate cockroaches but I feel sad when they die. I think it might be just because it's a death and not because of the bug or it could just be liking animals. I hate bugs, insects or anything like that but I do agree that I feel sorry for them when they die.

ok so you may subconsiously feel for the critters.

For me how i deal with it is that i tend to wave it off, living things are dying and being born all the time, thats nature.

But i would usually draw a line aganist me doing the killing intentionally, so roadkill dosn't affect me. I do kill the rare bug every now and then (cause it was buzzing around me and pissing me off or trying to leach my blood)
