I have had a lot of luck with Havahart mouse traps. They are very small cages that trap the mouse and the mouse still lives. It's a humane way to get rid of a mouse, and also the most effective. I tried several other mouse traps (no view, ones that use an electrical current) and none of them worked. I set up the Havahart trap and within 1 hour, the mouse was there. It was easy to release the mouse- it ran away once outside. Highly recommended- and you feel so much better about it. You can buy them at hardware stores.

Mice can easily get under your door and yes they can climb. I have seen them scurrying on top of my kitchen counter and stove. They also have the habit of chewing things up around the house that are made of wood in order to sharpen their teeth. They are very hard to catch and I would get those traps put in asap. There's no spray that will keep them away. Do not worry though, they won't attack you, but they could run over you in the night!

They say that peppermint is a natural mouse repellent. Pure peppermint oil or peppermint plants.
Traps and poison are probably the best way to get rid of any rodents in the house...or call an exterminator.
And yes mice can climb and squeeze thru the tiniest openings (as long as their heads fit thru they can get in).

They won't bother you, you're OK. They are looking for something to eat mainly.
Put out the traps and you should have him shortly. I always use peanut butter spread on the top and bottom of the trigger, it works well. good luck.
BTW, yeah they can climb and jump and get through the smallest hole, but they don't want to bother you, they are as afraid of you as you are of them. good luck and sleep tight.

My office building is full of mice right now.
One got up on my desk and shot out from under the computer monitor onto my keyboard while I was typing.
He was more scared of me than I was of him.
Basically, the sticky traps are supposed to catch them and then you can stomp on them or otherwise kill them.

This is similar to what rabbit do when the have mixamatosis they sit in one place. There is no explanation I can think of other than if he had the ability to run away from you then he can also run from another animal and hide easily. I would leave nature to itself.
