We all seem to be 'hard wired' in a way that guarantees intimacy whenever possible, regardless of how brainy we are. Remember Clinton and Monika Lewinsky? It seems to have nothing to do with intelligence, just instinct. What do you think?

it could be construed as a very cynical idea. but i agree with you some studies have suggested that love is just each person getting something from the other for their own benefit!

i was having this conversation with a friend.

At the end of the day, in pre-historic times, i reckon when we were apes, they didnt have 'love' they just had sex which was a sure way to reproduce.

Sex, i feel is just an act of intimacy between two people, however the levels of intimacy vary obviously.

Sex and love cannot be paired together so loosely. Love is a deep want for someone, a passion, and a needing to be with someone, whereas sex is just for pleasure and can have little or no meaning at all.

Two people can love eachother and there can be no sex. its not a compulsory thing.

So to conclude, I feel that sex is just an instinct....

Sorry, but I think Clinton and Monica were both just sleazy. Most intelligent people would not have acted that way especially a man in such a powerful position. I think we have enough control over our emotions and our bodies to make wise decisions and not just procreate like wild animals. There's a time and a place for everything and we are taught that as children. I am in love and we have no children....except our dogs.

I didn't know that Bill & Monica were in love. Love doesn't have anything to do with intelligence, it the exact opposite. Love makes your intelligence level drop significantly. But it's a great feeling! Humans need to feel love in order to survive. If you did not feel love as a baby and child, you wouldn't be alive right now. Behaviour disorders are the result of children who did not feel loved.

a women getting broody is natures trick to make us have babies. Some people are only able to fall in love once and if it doesn't work out, because they are so in love they cant move on and have other relationships so i don't think love could be a trick but defiantly broodiness

Absolutely. Nature impels us to procreate, pass on our genes & thus ensure the survival of the species as a whole and our specific bloodline too. Love, in a physical sense is that "trick". Lust is the urge that satisfies that need.

First things first, I dont think that Clinton is an example of intelligence. But anyway... Yes, it is nature and genes. The very existence of the human race is reproduction. Poetry, music, arts, philosophy... All of them aim at reproduction. Eg, 'Elise' from Beethoven... Why one of the most beautiful pieces of his is written for a woman? Procreation...

Love is basically a chemical imbalance in the brain. When we fall in love chemicals are released in our bodies to make us act in strange ways. One of these ways is the need to reproduce and also to create a stable and secure environment for the ones we love.

No, love is really great. Have you ever been in love? It's the best and the worst thing that'll ever hapen to you all rolled up into one. Besides, not everyone wants to have babies even when they're in love. Just in case it is though, I don't want to know about it.

People aren't "made" to have babies. . a new life should be well planned and catered for. Irresponsibility in not using protection when love making or not carefully monitoring ovulation cycles, is not natures trick is it?
