clothes stored in plastic bags turn yellow. I always remove the plastic from the dry cleaners. Sunlight will turn your clothes yellow as well. Dampness will do it buy Damp Rid

You didn't say how they were stored. Gas heating systems will leave a yellow coating on everything, including clothes. You may need to store them under a cover or in a garment bag (travel type).

Rat urine, sweat, or moisture. Dust can also collect in the moisture which makes the shirt shades of yellow. Be sure to put your shirts in a place that don't include a lot of moisture or dust (or in that case, rats).
