Yes, but it's not done in competition. It's more of a technique for lifeguards who need to pull a victim through the water at a certain angle for drag and proping of the head above the water. It's slow, but it's one of the safest strokes to use when pulling a victim back.

Yes there is. It is only used during training though. The 4 main strokes used in competition are, butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle.

Sidestroke is an actual stroke but it's not generally taught because it's not a very effective means of swimming. You can't get anywhere very fast with it. Would be funny to have a contest though to see who has the fastest sidestroke. lol
