I think people do not star questions because:
1) They are in a hurry to get to the next question
2) They are only thinking about themselves
3) They do not understand the purpose of the star
4) They do not understand the "network" of contacts/fans and how the star "communicates" info to them

Generally people are motivated to star questions that just interest them regardless of how quirky or intelligent those questions may be. I know it sounds selfish, but that's the rule that most starrers follow. I'm one of the answerers who star questions that are intelligent and deserve to be featured on the main page regardless of how interested I am in the subject that those questions are supporting. That's because I know that just because certain subjects are not part of my interests it doesn't necessarily mean they're not worthy as subjects.

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that there is no Reward for someone taking the time to Star a Question. Same thing with Giving Thumbs up. Back when I started, you used to get a point for rating an Answer. Not anymore. No sense in spending the time to do so.

I will usually star a question when someone is being abused or could really use help, I want more people to see it to give them as much help as possible. If we star everything then the star means nothing because everything's starred.

I would star but I don't want to be accountable in my profile for my starred questions, it brings what i star to a whole different level

many times everybody is prompted to megastar questions that merely interest them even with how quirky or smart those questions could be. i are conscious of it sounds egocentric, yet it extremely is the guideline that maximum starrers carry on with. i'm between the answerers who megastar questions that are smart and need to be featured on the main website even with how involved i'm interior the area that those questions are helping. it extremely is by using the fact i understand that merely because of the fact particular matters are no longer area of my hobbies it would not inevitably recommend they are not worth as matters.

Don't know how to, is the simple answer here. There are a lot of things about Yahoo! which are not apparent to the new user.
