Just get some of those cheap rubber gloves from the discount store. You'll need 1 pair for each slat. All you have to do is stretch one over each end of each slat, fold the fingers to the bottom and it should make your evening quieter.

Dry(Powdered) graphite will help if the squeaking is the result of wood on wood contact. This graphite is usu. sold at Home centers in the area of the key cutting machines. Dry graphite is a lock lubricant too. If the squeaking is the result of a fastener, i.e. screw or nail moving against the wood then that fastner should be tightened. If it is a nail squeaking then remove the nail and use a screw instead.

Depends on where it is squeaking, are there bolts to tighten?
If they are all tight then you could try adding more slats to distribute the weight.

Tell your girlfriend to take a break. The squeaking will stop and you'll be able to get some sleep.
