First wave ska? Hmm. Try the Trojan Ska Box Set. Be warned, though: the fidelity on those mid-60s Jamaican tracks is atrocious! Skanking tunes, though.

the only ska band worth listening to are the specials. all others that have come out in the last 25 years are just a poor imitation.

I haven't gotten too deep into ska. But a couple you may or may not listen too are No Doubt and Rancid. Obviously these two bands are on the popular side.
So hopfully you get answers from people who know some lesser known ska bands.
