yes he is a great player but he needs to perform well in county matches and should perform consistently with the bat and should come up with great spirit

SAMANTHK,aise toh selectors Kaif ko crew mein lenge hi nahin because he's conserving his sturdy form even if the selectors are nonetheless doing no longer something.yet Kaif can do something to get chosen contained in the crew.bypass to the selectors and Goli maar. New selectors will come and there would nicely be a threat for KAIF to bypass into the crew

Kaif is doing ok in domestic cricket after dropping form Indian team. At least he much better than Virender Sewagh these days. If a player like Sewagh can be selected, why not Kaif? Kaif and Raina would be better choice than Sewagh...
I agree Ganguli does not bother much about his batting performance.. he as a Captain.. knows how to get Best from his players. Dravid just believe in his performance and without providing motivation to his players ,he just except them to play. Team is not playing as A Team under his captain ship and so every player is not performing at his level.
This selection was not based on performance but what.. I do know know.
Anyone knows?

I cannot give any answer to your question, only BCCI may give some clue. If power is given to me for selecting Indian team to tour Bangladesh, I should have given rest for eleven players who played against Bangla in the World Cup. A separate team under the Captaincy of Sri VVS laxman would have been selected. As we should build a great formidable Indian Team, I have my own dreams for football, Hockey and Olympic games. All politicians small or big should be shunted out of sports. Otherwise no anti virus devise could function with getting effected the virus. It is not that easy. National spirit has to be revamped. No Kalmadis, No Pawars, What they infuse in sports? nothing.

BCCI is now concerned more about restoring lost pride. The worlds richest Cricket club with worlds richest cricke players.....U know! It is mainly concentrating on the word "RICH" not "Richly Talented". I do agree with u that Kaif is one who stood against the odds to make things happen. He was instrumental in India's historic win over England at the Oval (Natwest Series Final 2002--scoring 87 or so and staying till the last supporting Yuvraj).
But just when the world cup selections started / were under progress he lost touch --- may be --- he had to as not much of opportunities came his way to prove his mettle. Because of these missed chances (be it his own nemesis or some body else's fortune) he was sidelined and now out of the Team.
Even the recent performances doesn't give him a chance to play because ---- he is being overlooked for some body else who can bat more ferociously than him. Kaif being a slow and steady batsman this now became his weak ness and keeps him out of Team.

Kaif has been in poor form scoring only an 83 in a 3 Ranji matches after he was dropped and failed to get a big score in the Deodhar trophy 2 months before in the domestic cricket. Under his captaincy a complacent UP was relagated from the elite league.

Talent wise, Kaif is rather limited....he can run like a hare, edge the ball (and hope there's no fielder or the fielder drops him), nudge the ball, yada yada....You get the picture right. Kaif is no Laxman or Sehwag or Yuvraj. All these guys are match winners by their own right. The best that Kaif reminds me of is Yashpal Sharma...Now tell me how many matches India won because of Yashpal Sharma ? Probably none. And I am quite sure India is neither going to win anymore matches because of Kaif either.
Kaif's limitation was visibly clear against SA in SA. That's why he was dropped. We need some genuine talent, not some one who slogs his best day in and day out, but he still cant make it to the elite league.

There are a number of good players not selected for Bangaldesh and an equal number of has-beens have! I am now busy delving into my ancestral East Bengal origins to see whether I can latch on to the wonderful Bangladesh boys and share in their joy! Apart from India I was also inconsolable when Pakistan failed miserably.

Kaif was dropped at first place because of poor form in Southafrica and few ODI tournaments before that.He didn't use the ample opportunities given to him to cement is place. He, no doubt is a good player and a future captain material, but he also didn't score enough runs in Domestic cricket. He has to concentrate on is batting, score runs in domestic cricket, may be a stint at count cricket will do good to him.

I am also surprised at the omission of Mohd. Kaif and Suresh Raina from the team and inclusion of Dinesh Mongia.
