I'm looking to build my second computer. In my last one I used a 3ghz Intel P4, but now want to go to AMD. Preferably under $200, I use my computer for photoshop and games, photoshop being the most important. What are your suggestions for an AMD for me?
Thanks

Well, the best socket out for AMD is the AM2 socket. You'll have to purchase a motherboard with this socket, and I recommend this processor for $195 (plus shipping): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103771. It is 2.8ghz (incredibly fast) dual core processor, with a 2MB L2 cache. And of course, the stock heat sink and fan keep it plenty cool. On one of the reviews I read someone overclocked it to be stable at 3ghz. It's just an overall great processor for the price. The quad cores at the moment are overpriced, and the price wont drop for a few months, and after their price drops something new will be coming out etc. etc. You just have to jump in somewhere.

Core 2 Duos from Intel are actually the fastest out right now, but if you are looking for bang for the buck, AMD is still in the lead at the moment. The best for under $200 is right here:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103771

If you wait about a month, the Core 2 Duo E6600 will be priced at about $230, and is a little bit faster than the AMD I showed you, if you prefer Intel.

wait for the quads man x2's are old school now. Just like the p4.

basically instead of x2 now there is x4. Wait for it.

You didn't specify socket type so I'll suggest 2 processors to you, one socket AM2 and one socket 939.
