If you have DSL internet, can you connect your computer directly into the telephone socket to use the internet without a modem?

No, just like when using dialup you need a modem to communicate with the network connecting you to the internet.

The DSL modem is the translator between your computer and your internet service provider.

And there are no computers built with DSL modems installed as someone else answered above.

No, you cannot. Also, you seem to be mistaken about the inputs on your laptop. You most likely have a normal modem input, which is not suitable for a DSL line. You need a special DSL modem, as provided by your internet service provider.

nope
u cant do that .cause if you did that way then Yahoo sevices will have hard time to track you or wouldnt have any connection with them at all . that why you never turn off the DSL speedstream Modem box ? you always leave it turn on . dont worrying wont get hot or burn if you left it on all day . u should get urself a two way line plugs one for useing youre house phone line another for the computer. if u have those phone datches that look like a tan DSL plug cord that says DSL and Phone Lines with one already have a plug -in ? u can use that instead if you dont want having hard time whnever somebody call youre place wouldnt bother to shut down youre computer during the time youre online.

Unfortunately no. I wish it was that easy. You need a dsl modem but you can get a wireless router or a router though. Then you can connect more computer to get online... I hope that helps! Goodluck!
