Well it's not going to drive itself. Not yet ,maybe in the future.

Only if he actually uses it for stuff only a truck can do. Doesn't mean you have to haul/offroad/whatever all the time, but it means you should do it at least sometimes.

And even then, cars are so much better for basic transportation that if one has room and money for both, one should have a car in addition to a truck.
