Harry:
Sorry but yes. Look up the Knights Templar and what they did.
Not that they were the only ones, but it's the only way I know how to go directly to the financial aspect of the crusades off the top of my head.

Bret:
Go recheck your research.
I can't even believe you even said "both World Wars" when both were 100% caused by financial reasons.

I don't believe I ever said anything about the US anywhere in my question.
WWI was caused because of trade with the East. Austria-Hungary & Germany wanted to build a railroad through Bosnia and Serbia.
I'm not going to give you a history lesson. I know mine, it's not my fault you don't know yours.

The religion thing may be true to an extent. But, like the Crusades, most "Religious Wars" were financially motivated as well. Those in command knew that, but the soldiers fighting were lead to believe it was for their religion.
Persia was such an awesome power mainly because of their troop moral. Troop Moral is one of the most important things in battle. If the soldier is lead to believe that he is fighting for something he feels strongly about, he will fight much harder.
More blood has been spilled in the name of religion. You can't debate that. But, I can't think of a single one besides a few isolated ones, that was force on force entirely religious based.

Back to WWI.
It was sparked by the Archduke being assassinated. He was assassinated because he went there to tell them they were being annexed (in order to build a railroad).

Nope there hasnt been one. I think the final escapades of Alexander the Great were to an extent purely conquest motivated because by the end of that one they had more gold than they thought they could ever use. Once they had gotten Persia it was pretty much less cash everytime.
Korea was fought over:
North Korea is one of the richer nations in Asia in terms of mineral resources. Within their border, major reserves of coal, iron ore, tungsten, magnesite, and graphite have been found. Other minerals present in large concentration include gold, silver, copper, lead, zinc, and molybdenum
Vietnam was fought over:
Crude oil remains the country's largest single export
and bananas too

I guess the Lusitania sank all on her own then with no outside influence. She just went belly up and sank to the bottom of the ocean. I just find it a tad bit peculiar that this happened not too long after the establishment of the Federal Reserve Act and the16th amendment.
So the US would have gotten involved if what is listed above had not occurred? I knew about the railroad, it too was money driven of course. But how could we get involved if we hadn't been attacked? And of course most know that Germany cancelled it's unrestricted submarine warfare initiative shortly thereafter, only to bring it back in 1917.
I believe it was April sometime that year we declared war on Germany.

What are you thinking about? If you are trying to say blood for oil then that is just stupid. Everything that you touch has been trucked from somewhere. Medicines, clothing, and almost everything has come from oil. We cannot survive without it now as it is as important as the air that we breath. no Power etc.. Money is there like the food we eat has money involved too. If a tyrant controls the major source of oil the we would all be at their becoming call. We fought in WW 2 because we were going to be surrounded by the Third Reich and the Imperial Japanese army. In WW1 we fought because the Germans asked Mexico to invade the US. All of the other wars were because of the threat of Soviet domination. The remaining was because of ethnic cleansing etc...

Probably the Irish civil war between the Catholics and the protestants that has been going on for a very long time. If you do your research you will discover that religious differences seem to cause an outbreak of war frequently.

There aren't many. Maybe the Crusades? I don't know, was there any monetary gain for the Church during the Crusades?
Oh yeah, I forgot about the Knights of Templar.
So, I guess the answer's no, all wars are about money.

I can list many. Korea, Vietnam, both World Wars, the war with Mexico (1849). Grenada. Somalia. The Global war on Terror.
Wars with a primarily financial interest? Both Persian Gulf wars (Iraq). Which I support(ed). And Panama.
Oil effects, dramatically, the price of ALL goods bought and sold in the U.S. And tariffs and the free flow of cargo through the Panama Canal also has dramatic effect on our economy. Wars for monetary reasons aren't inherantly bad. You care what a loaf of bread costs, or a gallon of milk, don't you? Or a new car, or stereo?
Don't buy into the ridiculous opinion that money is the primary motivator of ALL wars (although it's a contributing factor to many), just because the only two in your lifetime have been about money. They aren't.
MOPP: ALL of my references are about the U.S. involvement. Most of the parties to both World Wars were in no way in them to make money. They were in them for sheer self defense! Germany, of course, was in the wars for money, in primary. But Germany, my friend, although the cause of the Second WW, was NOT the dominating population involved in WW2, they were a small percentage of the total people who fought in that war (Ditto the Japanese, who also did indeed fight for financial gain, but were a small minority of all the peoples eventually involved).
And the First World War started with religious conflict in the Balkans, and a political assaination.
But do tell, MOPP: What do you think started WW1? And why do you think most people fought it?

More blood had been shed, and more people have died in the name of religion than any other cause. Of course Bush wants to change that to oil and money.
