After all a poll is a type of survey.... Why not Just say Yahoo surveys?

it doesn't mean the same thing. A poll may be a type of survey, but a survey isn't a type of poll.

Polls give a "yes" or "no" type of answer; surveys give more details.

Your question is a survey. Someone else asked "Are you listening to TV or music?"
That is a poll because the answers are limited without gathering more information.

Example of poll question:
Did you like the movie?
Poll answer: Yes.

Example of survey question:
What did you like about it?
Survey answer: It had a lot of action scenes and an exciting story.

Well I guess it just stretches the topic out. Here's an example:

Player 1 wants to make a survey, he sees a topic called polls he doesn't know what that means so he is sad and doesn't do anything.

Player 2 the opposite

Play1 or 2 are not very smart but that's all I could think of

A "Poll" is a type of vote
A "Survey" is "input" on a certain topic
that one may have voted on or
chosen to discuss

Technically speaking, the structure of a poll is different from that of a survey. I will not elaborate beyond that thought.

Perhaps to let everyone know what this category is all about and has to be repeated twice so amnesiacs won't forget....hehehe

On a serious note, some countries are familiar with one or the other. Just my guess.

a survey is asking people what they think
a poll is a list of what people think, the number of votes.
