I think my home is infected with termites. They suddenly appeared a couple of hours ago. Most of them have wings, and there are alot of them. Not many of them are flying at the moment. They are mostly gathered in three places. Two places by lights, and a hole which they are coming from.

I know I will need to notify an exterminator, but it's the weekend and my parents are out of town. So it will be a couple of days before any serious action will happen. I'm wondering if there is anything temporary I can do to stop them. There are loads of them out at the moment, and I'm afraid they will soon be in my room and I don't want them on me when I'm sleeping.

My sister and I are currently covered because for awhile many of them were flying by us, and getting on us. It was pretty bad. At first we thought something was dead or rotten in the house, but there isn't.

Currently they seem to have settled down. Most aren't flying anymore, and some have disappeared somewhere.

Don't waste your money trying to knock them down now. You are describing the males and they die quickly anyway. The damage is done by the workers and your spray won't get to them. Any additional damage in the next 3 days before you call an exterminator will be minimal--but make sure you call them as soon as possible.

Actually what you are experiencing is referred to as swarmers.

Swarmers are off spring kings & queens their only objective is to find suitable breeding grounds to start their own colony.

they are attracted towards the light, No need wasting money on any types of chemicals as these are not in the wood destroying phase, therefore present no immediate problems other than they are a nuisance.

Just vacuum them up and call in the exterminator at you convenience.

You could go to the store and get a flying insect spray and spray the hole where they are coming from. That should slow them down for a while. At least until your parents get home. good luck

go to the store and buy a pack of home foggers this will kill all of them that are exposed before they go into the walls. you must however leave the house and take pets out for a couple of hours...go stay at a friends or grandmas. READ THE DIRECTIONS ON THE PACKAGE... do it now before they get to the wood......
