Squirrels are rodents (rats with bushy tails) and are determined persistent critters. You can try blood meal sprinkled on the soil, purchase this in the garden center, or try mothballs stuffed in the toe of an old nylon.

Good luck. I have given up..........

I don't know where you live but they are good to eat. I had Shasta Daisies in NC and they would eat the petals off and they looked like egg yokes. Had to laugh. I had dogs in the back yard that knew to leave plants alone and no squirlies. they used to come at night when the dogs were in and dig up seeds I planted, I tried wearing rubber gloves and sterilizing them and they still dug up my seeds. Tree rats!! I lived high on a mountain for a year in an old old cabin--when I would walk out the drive to go to the mail box there was a squirrel that would chatter and throw pine cones at me, I shot him and I ate him. My grandma in Va always had a squirrel on the back of the stove for grandpa to eat. She said he had ulcers and needed the squirrel --well I knew how to sneak it and smack it up--at the age of 9. Crafty little devils and no real cures.

There's a book called "Outwitting Squirrels" by Bill Adler Jr. which might give you some helpful ideas to slow them down.

But I don't think there's a power on earth that can really stop a determined squirrel.

I've seen a fun bird feeder advertised that is motorized and will actually whirl in a circle and fling the squirrel off. I don't think even that stops them for long but it sure would be fun to watch.

1. Cut a piece of cloth 6" X 6 "
2. Place 3 tbs unto it.
3. Tie cloth.
4. Place them ever 3' around garden area.

Trap them in one of those wire traps. My husband trapped and hauled off 32 squirrels last year. He didn't kill em he just took them way out in the country. This year it seems like there are more than that!!!! I believe he plans on getting a pellet gun and doing away with them , this time. There are just to many to trap or buy feed for ... I hate it but we spend a lot of money and even more labor on our garden just to have squirrels eat it up!!!!! We may have fried squirrel with our veggies!!!
