Ballet will probably be very good for you, especially if you have a good teacher! It might be too late for you to start pointework, but for most people ballet is easy enough to learn at just about any age. Ballet (if taught and learned properly) lengthens your muscles (but sports make them shorter.) So that is a good thing for you. It is also a great form of exercise, builds coordination, and can even help you in areas of self-confidence and logical thinking.
Also try taking pilates (alongside of ballet). It will probably really help you get over the pain from your injuries. Make sure to find a good certified pilates instructor, though. (Most dance studios will be able to reccommend one if they don't have one on staff already.).
So anyways, my point is just try ballet... You will probably like it alot!

You are not too old to take ballet and have fun doing it. You ARE too old to ever think about being a professional dancer. I would try some classes and see how your head/neck react. Ballet doesn't really put a lot of strain on that part of your body except maybe to make you more conscious of your posture etc. Good Luck.

19 isn't too old for ballet but you will definitely have a hard time. Ballet has really intense training. You should probably get ready for that intense training. I guess you should also have patience because it takes a long while to be able to be really flexible. You should also probably consuly your doctor to see if it's alright to do ballet. Just to ake sure.

if ballet is a stretch for you, do ballroom dancing! it is a fun, recreational dance and you must still exude grace while dancing it. Tango and Salsa are good, but try Swing or even Flamenco!

19 is not too old. my classmate (started about to years ago) in ballet started at 19 and he didnt have any background at it. now, his turn-out is amazing, his buttmahs (is it the right spelling?) are high. his granjete's are really powerful. i look up to him so much.

Of course you can. If you once danced, you will dance for all your life. Professional dancers still dance when they' re past 50 years old! ( Fred Astaire, for example. )
