Everyday should be Earth Day.. it seems like we take it for granted what we have with the earth.. We don't need a fancy home, water from a tap, flushing toilets.... if we have mother earth to support us. Millions of years ao we didn't have the amenities that we have now, and truthfully... we were probably better off. We knew how to treat our ailments with herbs, and fruit... we knew that we could only kill the amount we could eat, then use every part of the animal to support our way of life.. Now people take everything for granted, and waste a lot of stuff which we could use.. One day doesn't cut it... we need everyday to be reminded on how gratefull we are to live where we live, and make this earth a better place for our future generations... Right now we are still cleaning up the messes from our people in the early 1900s, because they didn't know better, BUT we DO know better, and we aren't doing anything about it.. but we have to.. so now is the time... do something everyday for the earth, and it will be a better place, one step at a time.

Could not agree more... even if each day we do a little something in the spirit of Earth Day it would make a huge difference. Almost like on New Years we set New Years resolutions... we should try to set Earth Day resolutions and keep them the whole year.

My little "earth day" activity today was to search the web for cool eco-websites and save them to my bookmarks. I included hemp-sisters.com since this of course is my favorite... but I also listed some other cool sites I found along with a couple old favorites. The more we read, the more we email each other and spread the word, and most importantly, the more we vote, the better things we be. Hopefully we'll never again make a bushmistake again... ever.

I completely agree, but considering how much we all abuse the environment, it cannot be changed overnight. People need time to adjust to changing habits. Large corporations have to go back to the drawing board and start from scratch in some cases, in order to become environment friendly. One day involving doing something good for the environment by every single person on earth is certainly something to be proud of if it can be accomplished. Getting the word out is a start, and soon enough, everyday WILL be Earth Day. Hats off to those who did something for the earth today.
I'm proud to say that I have gone "paperless" with two of my bills.:)

Yes everyday should be Earth Day but they give us Earth Day every day you cant give a program about how the Earth is being affected by peoples stupidity. So they have earth day and the best pat about it is that it is in the spring so everything is fresh and new . That gives people ethe chance to help the Earth stay fresh and new at least for a day.

I was just thinking the same thing. I ansered a question about what I was doing for Earth Day and I realized it was all the same things that I usually do! LOL!

It has to be everyday now! We all can improve in some way.
We have turned the corner for global warming now we have to make sure we minimize it and don't turn the corner of extinction. We are nearer that than most people think!

Please b careful! I am!

Love and action! NOW!

Peace!

It all depends. If you listen to your pastor, every day should be Christmas. If you listen to your teacher, every day should be a school day. If you listen to your doctor every day should be heart day. Etc, etc, etc. I'm tired at being preached at by every special interest group. So, instead of having 1 earth day a year, we should get rid of it and tell everybody that every day is earth day. Do you see the fault in that? By having it once a year, we focus on the problem and boost peoples thought process on the subject. In fact, one of the best ways to convert people to earth day ideals is to go blind.
I used to drive an older car, drive everywhere, work in a power wasting office, and live in a large apartment. Now, since I've lost my eyesight, I can't drive, can't work and rent a small room. I'm saving the earth, one welfare check at a time!! riteous

Absolutely, I think that's the goal of Earth day period. It's to make people who weren't aware of their impact on the environment educated about their actions and how they can change, then they will do more to respect the earth every day.

Yes, most definitely! And at Grist.org, where I work, every day is Earth Day. Grist is the leading daily environmental news website. Our motto: Gloom and doom with a sense of humor. Of particular interest to Yahoo! Answers people is our advice columnist, Umbra Fisk, who writes the column Ask Umbra. Twice a week she answers reader questions and dispenses tips on a variety of topics (big and small).
