My own favorite is "The Birds," but most would probably say "Psycho" was the best of the better known Hitchcock movies.

Other strong candidates: "The Lady Vanishes" and "The 39 Steps."

Rear Window.
Classic Hitchcock - full of suspense, keeps the viewer on edge, covers so much previously unexplored subject matter. Brilliant performances by both Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly.

Vertigo would have to be a close second.

Psycho would easily be the best known Hitchcock film, and is the 'scariest' with an amazing performance from Tony Perkins

To Catch A Thief doesn't have the same fear and suspense as many of his others, but has the most amusing dialogue

He made so many great ones, a better quesion would be what was his worst (not that he made a bad film).

My all time fave is always Psycho, but you can't go wrong with North By Northwest, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Vertigo or Rear Window.
