Yes, it is great, and there are competitions for those age groups, too. I'm not in Canada, but what I'd recommend is go to a major dance competition and buy a program. In the program, you will see the names of competitors and the names of the studios they go to. I'm sure that some of them have programs for teenagers and pre-teens. At least, these people will be able to give you good advise. The most famous competition is Snowball, but that's in Winter, you don't want to wait that long. Try http://www.accessdance.com and http://www.ballroomdancers.com they have a lot of info, including the on-line studio direcory.

Definitely!

Age of 12-15 is perfect, it gives them a few years before they hit the adult dancing world, which starts at age 18 or so. So they will be experienced when they hit the real competitions.
People start at a great range of ages, some started when they are toddlers (there are special competition for toddlers), I started when I was 18 and I am 19 now. It's never too late to start. I do find at times the competition is pretty fierce but with lots of practice and hard work I will be up there soon. Just had a championship today.

Not sure about vancouver, but surely every major city will have ballroom organisation. Check your local yellow pages, under dance studios.

Good Luck!

could you particularly be around lots of girls or lots of fellows? If ballroom is a "lady" factor do no longer you think of you would be spending it sluggish around gorgeous ladies each and every of the time, without putting any attempt into arranging for an risk to dangle out with them? that's what my dance better half says his significant motivation to do ballroom. i understand he's joking because of the fact he for sure likes the sweetness and subculture area of it. in case you watch this communicate board for a mutually as you will see how regularly do adult males come right here asserting "help! I actually have a date and that i might desire to overview a thank you to bop, speedy!" Dancing might desire to come accessible sooner or later.... you will get as extreme as you want approximately ballroom and compete in it too.

This is an excellent idea. For one thing, it gets them used to touching a member of the opposite sex in a non-sexualized context. It also teaches them that dancing is !just! dancing. I say go for it!!!

I think it would be, but I don't know how she will feel about dancing with strange boys, that's an awkward age, you can have her play softball if she needs exercise,
